Gotta love the the hybrid power system in that city. More cities should really adopt it especially when it comes to downtown areas where overhead wires are both unsightly and somewhat unsafe due to the mix of traffic in those areas... Definitely the future of streetcar/trams!

Sigh...if Rio can have a light rail running through busy residential/commercial streets, why can't Ottawa? The new Ottawa LRT has been a disaster: $2 billion, multiple outages due to broken parts, and 3 derailments! The capital city of a rich country has an LRT that wouldn't be acceptable in a second-rate outpost.
