I grew up hearing them on the stereo at home; my Dad loved them. My dad even got the album, Through Children's Eyes and I played that things until I wore the needle out. I loved the humour of their chat between the songs and of course I loved the music itself. I hadn't thought of them in a long tie, but a dear friend became a father 2 years ago, and his son loves songs....so I sang Run Little Donkey to him and explained to my friend about the folksingers my dad loved and the album that I remember some 50 years after I first heard it.

I was honored to share the stage with The Limeliters a couple of times and with Glenn separately on other occasions. Real class. All gentlemen , funny, smart, and kind. Glenn recorded four of my Schooner Fare songs on a couple of his albums. A great thrill. I miss Glenn and Lou ! Steve Romanoff

Three of the best singers of the Folk scene, and also very accomplished musicians as well. Wit, talent, booming voices, flawless delivery, and at the same time seeming to not take it all too too seriously. No auto-tune, digital music loops or canned music. These guys were part of the soundtrack to my early years . . of course until the Beatles showed up. :)

I'm sitting here looking at a pair of tickets, Section B, Row P, seats 9 & 10 dated April 6, 1961 in Carney Hall, Pittsburg State University I have kept all these years. Watching this video brings back the great memories of that night. I marveled at Glen Yarborough's great tenor voice. They were great then and look great on this 1981 video. Only one left now...sad, but they were the best.

I haven't been back to the campus at Pittsburg in a long time, but the last time I was there, it was sad to see that Carney Hall, with its auditorium where big name acts played college concerts is no more. I would love to have seen the Limeliters. They were one of my very favorite groups. It was probably 1965 or 1966 when I saw the Kingston Trio at Carney Hall, and I too have great memories of that night.

Just heard this morning that Glenn Yarbrough died. May he rest in peace. What an icon he was to American folk music and what an unmistakable tenor voice. The Limeliters were a great group. Thanks for posting this video.

A class act. I saw them many times. Vocally unique, funny and intelligent. Very entertaining. And very interesting individuals offstage...Totally different and not necessarily compatible with one another.

I saw the in Atlanta in 1961 or 1962. They have been my favorite folk group since the first time I heard them on the radio... singing about the Monks of St. Bernadette. They really got me with the line about the young man making his way through the world searching for truth... "as young men will do." Oh... I wasn't the only one. :-)

Thanks for sharing this video... I was so crazy about The Limeliters my parents took me to see them play at Massey Hall in Toronto when I was 10 or 11. I remember the person next to me was blown away because I named every song they played!

Thanks to all! Thanks to the Limeliters for sharing their musical and entertaining gifts and all their great music... even it was, as they sing, "..for the money." Special thanks to you, Ed, for sharing this rare treasure that I had never heard before. And thanks to Whitt McKinney for clueing me into this in his weekly posting on the McKinney Washtub Two site.

I was a big Limelighters fan and got to see/hear them live twice. They made me laugh and sing. We jus lost Glenn Yarborough in August. We are all so lucky to have KZbin. Makes you wonder what else someone has to share on KZbin. It is my great pleasure to share this. Thank you.

I once edited my audio files of Tonight In Person! to skip over Lou's banter, thinking getting straight to the music would be a refreshing change after playing the album to death. Boy was I wrong. The banter was added back in after one listen through without.

Thanks for the compliments. The Limelighters have new members since we lost Lou years ago and Glenn in August this year. The original recordings should still be available on CD in some instances.

One of the things that are unfortunate is folk singers are often superseded by rock & roll. R&R may be the hare that left the "tortoise" of folk in its wake, but from what I've seen of the Limeliters, it looks like they're the slow & steady tortoises who won the race. I never heard of any of these performers barBQuiing themselves on drugs like Kurt Cobane
