One of the funniest men to ever live. Lou Gottlieb. He made me laugh 'til it hurt. I miss him. A 1981 New York Live recording with Alex Hasssilev, and Glenn Yarbrough.

@@NoSnoozeBlues1 I had joined one of those re enactment groups and one gentleman sang it to me one night and a blushed all the way through it and everyone thought that was so cute that they’d occasionally request him to sing it for me again

Lou took this song to another level - a truly fine comedian, as well as a musician.

I used to listen to The Limiliters with my dad. Still do (without him, sadly). Cannot get my son (now 40) to appreciate the vibe. I sure hope their memory does not fade entirely. Would love to know that some young person still gets it.

My story is very similar to yours! Dad and i loved listening to them, and as a guitarist, i learned many of their songs!

Lou, produced my first album, he was wonderful and very entertaining to be with and he also did an excellent job of working out the material for the record. I remember him very fondly. I really loved their music.

Funny I'm listening in December 2018 and radio stations are banning "Baby It's Cold Outside" because of the undertones, they say.

Nice version of the Flanders & Swann original from their At The Drop of a Hat show. Michael Flanders had the dubious advantage of singing it from a wheelchair, which upped the ante for lascivious deviance. Lou Gottlieb's take is delightful.

First heard it in the original Flanders & Swann version from 'At the Drop of a Hat.' It was years before I got the reference to 'all unperforated'!

no, it's a music hall comic song from the 1880s, but it's too subtle for you !!

Kind of funny the Limeliters appeared at the local concert venue a couple of years ago. I asked during intermission if they were going to sing “Madera” and I really got yelled at. Said they would never sing that song again and I was a “perverted individual for asking. It wasn’t a kind and loving conversation. So goes the new world I guess, I never thought of myself as a pervert, just a kind old man who used to like folk music and the limeliters. Next we won’t be able to hang Tom Dooley anymore. Sad, So Sad.

Overcooked it, sorry. I doubt anyone will ever do this better than Flanders and Swann, of course, but this doesn't even come close for me. It's lost all the subtlety, all the stealth, all the slyness of the original
