Is this 59 model worth the price tag though? Cause it ain't cheap for an Epi. And how does it compare to other guitars of that range from both Epiphone and other brands?
@adamwatson69164 жыл бұрын
@@alphajames33 it is absolutely worth the price . If you bought a regular epiphone 50s standard and bought a set of burstbuckers for it you would end up paying more money than you would buying the 59 . The 59 also has upgraded wiring switch and jack and better fret work then you will find on a regular epiphone . It gives my much more expensive gibson les pauls with upgraded pickups a serious run for their money at a much lower price . I have compared my 59 epi to my epi les paul custom with probuckers and their os no comparison . The epi 59 blows it away.. going from probuckers to burstbuckers is a major difference . The difference in clarity is immediately noticeable .

@@adamwatson6916 Would you buy this one, or another LP style of any brand with Seymour D. JB /59 combo? The Tom Thayer signature is less expensive and sports two JBs, but I hate the colour. And I'm not sure the rest of its electronics are as good as the ones on this 59. What do you think?

No shade dude but I have to say I preferred your old format, a lot more structured and focused on the guitar itself, and playing each position made for easy comparisons with other guitars, kind of set you apart from all the other channels that just noodle then chat, noodle, chat, etc 🍜 Just my opinion though, appreciate you’re trying something new 👍
@agufish4 жыл бұрын
I get that, and I’m not shying away from the structure with the “final thoughts” section. The problem with the long fully structured videos is those take forever to make and don’t get as many views with the new algorithm changes. It makes it really difficult to get content out in time (I would have loved to have covered the 1959 weeks ago), and really demoralizing when I spend 20-30 hours on a video that bombs 😕
@ciggy_4 жыл бұрын
Gotta agree with This guy, honestly I just watch videos for the opinions, hearing the sound processed doesn’t actually tell anyone anything. Especially when you put it in a mix, you can get anything to sound good if you just work the eq. I have this guitar and it looks like it has a Rosewood fretboard, its obvious that the guitar featured has an Indian Laurel fretboard because of the greyness of the wood. Although I am a fan of the old format I believe it is very refreshing to see this kind of a change. Tried 4 1959 Epiphones today, 3 sounded pretty good, almost great, and one sounded ABSOLUTELY great, but there are several reasons I didn't buy it. All had frets that needed polished, none of them were setup well and the one that sounded terrific was damaged from the factory (looked like dropped) or at the Guitar Shop and the nut needed re-cut for the E-string and a knob was missing. Unfortunately, that was the one that I would want to buy. The "So What" is I wouldn't if you plan on buying one I would play in person and factor in a setup, fret polish, and/or level. The tone/sound was consistent across 3 with 1 being a jewel on my first run at playing these. I'll keep hunting for one, but I'm not as excited as I was previously. I wish the frets were taller, and stainless, but that wouldn't be period correct. May the odds be ever in your favor.

My quest for the best Les Paul experience available for under $1000 US led me here. After watching MANY videos and speaking with several local rock guitar players and guitar store employees, I decided on the used Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Limited Edition, which comes with genuine Gibson Burstbucker 2&3 pickups, for $700. Mine happens to be Aged Southern Fade. That left enough budget to replace the bridge & tail hardware with a Faber Master Kit (~ $225 I think). I also buffed out the factory satin body to a glossier finish with Meguiars ScratchX and darkened the laurelwood neck with some walnut stain so that it looks exactly like the rosewood fretboard on my relic Strat by Dan Strain (Danocaster). The Faber hardware is a solid tone upgrade and I think it looks better AND more authentic now. I do NOT pine for a Gibson as this is the Real Deal as far as the tone and playing experience go. CRITIQUES: It's not really a problem but I could do with a little less gain - I may buy a Gibson Burstbucker 1 for the neck and move the BB2 down to the bridge, keeping the stock bridge BB3 as a spare. Mine weighs 9.3 lbs which is 2 lbs more than my Fender type guitars. I wouldn't go any heavier, and would advise to look for 8.5 to 9 pounds for the best balance. Beyond that, each tree sounds a little different so try to play the one you buy (I didn't and got lucky :o)
