I appreciate you putting this together, Much more helpful than any of the other sites that we are forced to use to figure out the probability's. One tip for you is to move the graphics less. Its hard to follow the narrative on the graphic when its moving so much. Thanks for what you do

You guys are so bumming me out. This all feels so dire and my biggest dread is that I believe everything that you are saying. I had to evacuate my home in the Running Springs' community of Arrowbear and a few miracles have happened that has saved our town, or so it seems. I pray for your best case scenarios - and appreciate your cold sober knowledge.

Take a look at the Radford maps. The camps are highlighted there. As are a few dozer lines and proposed dozer lines west of Radford. Some fuels work was done around the Bear and Santa Ana convergence as well. Great seeing Tim and Don on. Both mentors of mine.

@@barbaratucker4441 I hope you do because as you noticed based on this video those north of the lake are definitely most at risk. I am mostly packed up and if it looks like the fire is moving agressively east I am going Order or not. Unfortunately for BB, it looks like tomorrow may be shaping up exactly as Don Boursier predicted.

Great commentary. The fire breaks went away in the seventies due to the environmentalists' tree huggers. Currently as of 9:00 PDT Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear have lazy winds out of the SW.

california needs to do more prescribed burns. its ultimately more damaging to the environment when fires burn out of control for weeks/months rather than being controlled and the fallout mitigated. last year was an unusually wet year and much more could have been done during those ideal conditions.

Welcome Don. The area dujour to hopefully extend efforts to save is a wonderful stand of old growth slightly north and west of Keller Peak, dispersed amongst boulders. I think it's upper Dry Creek(?) Introduced by a dear friend/home/cabin owner and mistletoe warrior at Arrowbear. Classic San B high elevation OG. There's just some pumpkins in there!

QUESTION: I have friends in and around this fire. So, I am curious, when I see the warnings to evacuate Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls, as well as Angelus Oaks, but then the updated fire map hasn't moved. Please explain why the outline doesn't move but there's evacuation Orders.

The fire is on the east side of the Santa Ana River isn't it? So not too far away combined with some unpredictable winds coming.

We're on the Northwest end of crestline and are in a evacuation warning ? Do you think it will head this way ?
@roblangsdorf8758
@roblangsdorf8758 4 ай бұрын
Watch Duty currently has Crestline in a level 2 evaluation status. I think this is because the roads will be so congested when everyone tries to leave, that they want to encourage people to leave well before they get cut off. But the fire still has a ways to go to reach the Rim of the World Highway near Lake Arrowhead. But can you imagine everyone from Lake Arrowhead and west of there trying to get down 18 at once?

Every mega wildland fire has potential to become a terrible tragedy. The lack of access, water, high winds and high heat are always present to make the odds against the fire not becoming a mega disaster. CA has a lot of people living inside its borders and many live deep amongst the wildland and when Mother Nature decides to take revenge, she will win every time. CA has a great Fire protection system for fighting these big wild land fires. The men and women involved are well trained and experienced and they have some of the best equipment available. Mother Nature has tools man will have a hard time defeating. There will always be major losses but it is not because the Firefighters messed up, its because they become overwhelmed by the nature of the beast they are fighting.

So would it be easier to hold off the fire from going to lake arrowhead than it will be to stop it from getting to big bear? I just haven’t seen many helicopters working on the right side of the fire and from the cams it looks like it’s really flaring up towards the cedar glen area.

This is the #1 reason I left California last year after living there for 48 years. I got sick and tired of dealing with the fires when I lived in Northern California. I don't know how people can continue to live like this, because year after year more and more fires continue to burn out of control all over California!😢😢
