I will say that, unlike a lot of people, I really enjoyed this newer Lion King. Yes, I agree about the original 1994 version being better. Still, I did like this one. I liked some of the newer lines such as “While others search for what they can take, a true king searches for what he can give,” or when Mufasa says, “I never left you, and I never will.” Oh, and what Sarabi says about “a true king’s power is his compassion,” I loved that line too. Additionally, I liked how characters such as the lionesses, and even Shenzi, and the hyenas had a bigger role this time around. The only thing that I will say that I was not a fan of in regards to this newer Lion King was that I felt like conversations such as Simba’s argument with Nala felt a little rushed. Same possibly goes for Simba’s conversation with Rafiki. Other than those, though I wouldn’t rewatch this remake as much as the original, I would say that I would rewatch it again, and enjoyed it a lot. Well, thanks for reacting to this film, and looking forward to Happy Feet, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and The Road To El Dorado fairly soon.

I love original lion king 1994 but this was for me a bit better cause they showed some new amazing scenes like Nala escaped or that Sarabi had more place in the movie and yeah... it's hard to see emotions on animals but when you look closer you can see them. I will love this movie to my death. Really. One of the best remakes which I've ever seen.🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😍

The issue with this movie is that they sucked the soul out of it. They made a lot of poor decisions in the name of keeping the movie "realistic" and it just really misses the mark for me. They wanted the movie to be so realistic that there are next to no facial expressions on the animal's faces; and while, yes, lions don't express in the SAME way we do, they still have expressive faces. On top of that the voice actors were told to tone down some of their line deliveries because it was too animated/energetic which isn't "realistic"...... They removed the scene with Rafiki and his stick, smackin Simba over the head to teach him about how the past can hurt, but you can run from it or learn from it (An important scene to Simba's character) but they removed it because it's not "realistic" for a monkey to be carrying a staff around......... But they gave it to him later for the fight because it was too cool to remove.... Make it make sense. The whole thing just really bugs me. Lions don't talk either but here we are calling that realistic. If they can talk, then they can emote. Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with remakes if they're done well. But this just stripped lion king of everything that made it special. For most people, if they watched this without seeing the original, it wouldn't make them as emotional. I have no issues with people liking this movie of course. To each their own. But for me, it was a huge miss.

The channel YourMovieSucks did a great dissection of this film, and why it misses the mark for a lot of people. It is very negative but done in a way that you really can't argue with? At least for me. And honestly I find it funny because the guy's delivery is hilarious.

I saw this in theaters just shortly after it came out, alongside my husband. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and even began to sing Hakuna Matata when it started. We ended up getting others in the theater singing too, it was great. Since him and I went into the movie knowing it was a remake of the original, we didn't have the same mentality as everyone else. Others comments about the lack of emotion on the characters faces, is what makes me honestly pretty mad. In animation, it is easier to give all these whacky facial expressions to characters to help give that feeling. With real animals, you obviously won't be able to get that. It is a LIVE ACTION (cgi animals done through actually studying the animals movements and behaviors) remake, created for the newer generation of fans. Hence why there was so much more elaborated on with the story a bit, why characters stayed true to their actual animal counterparts, and why the 'farted' wasn't sensored. It stays true to what animals would do and act in the wild, with Disney's spin on it still to give it that fantasy aspect. Anyway, enough with the rambling. Also, still waiting for you to react to Rio, the movie about two Blue Macaws. :3

The things I didn't like too much about this movie: Be Prepared got killed. The characters lack any real emotion in their faces. And, there's no Shadowland in the movie. One of the greatest songs ever. But, other than that, I generally liked it. Went to see it with a couple of friends and had chills during the opening scene. That hasn't changed, at least. Speaking as someone who literally grew up with the original, it will always be better due to the huge impact on my childhood. However, I loved this version just as much. My only critiques were that “Be Prepared” could’ve been longer with some of the original lyrics, the deleted song “Where Do I Belong” should’ve stayed and had Young Simba sang it as he flees before transitioning back to Pride Rock where Scar takes the throne, the fight between Shenzi and Nala and Simba and Scar could’ve been longer, and the song during Simba’s return should’ve been “He Lives In You” and used Beyoncé’s song for the end credits. 🦁💛🧡❤️

I have one major and 2 minor gripes with this version of my favorite Disney classic. Major: What they did to my favorite villain song "Be Prepared". It was BARELY recognizable and literally the only lyrics that carry over from the 1994 and Broadway versions were: 🎶 Meticulous planning. Tenacity spanning. Decades of denial, is simply why I'll be king undisputed, respected, saluted, and seen for the wonder I am. Yes, my teeth and ambitions are bared. Be prepared.🎶 Minor: Why is Rafiki's tail so much shorter than it SHOULD be? And why was the music "King of Pride Rock" out of sync with the animation of Simba ascending Pride Rock and his roars?

I thought they did a pretty darn good job with this live-action version. 😄 And I think they did the music/score justice as well! In my opinion the whole thing stayed very true to the original. If I had a complaint it would be that “Be Prepared” wasn’t nearly as epic as it was in the cartoon, but aside from that I love the movie. 😊

I can think of at least two reasons: 1) Realism. Real lions and hyenas can't do the things Scar and his underlings did in the original version. Then again, I'm pretty sure real lions and hyenas can't speak or sing, either, but that didn't stop Disney from making this movie. 2) The symbolism. People nowadays are a lot more sensitive than they were back in the '90s. If modern day parents saw the hyenas goose-stepping like Nazis and making the skeletal remains of their prey appear to dance in hellish flames, how do you think most of them would react? Not saying I agree with the changes, only that I can see why they were made.

There's no denying that the CGI in this movie is absolutely stunning. The near-total realism is breathtaking. But because of this hyper-realism, all of the emotion got sucked out and it was rather sad. However, it worked beautifully for Prehistoric Planet. RIP Ed's character, and Be Prepared. I'm not even too mad that a lot of the voice cast is different. I actually kind of liked the changes made when Timon, Pumbaa and Simba are singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." Also grateful that "Morning Report" didn't make it back in. But there're just no expressions!

Fun fact: autistic people have trouble with facial emotions and eye contact, and tend to look more at bodies. Also fun fact: animals emote not through their faces, but their body language. So this Autistic saw more emotions than the rest of his dozen neurotypical family members. If you want an example, during Just Can’t Wait, observe Simba’s shoulder blades and posture. You can tell when he fakes a pounced on Zazu and when he is playing.

I think this movie is too hated. Just because animals look so real it doesn't mean that they don't have emotions. You can see it on their moves or faces. And yeah I can see emotions. This movie I watched almost 100x times. I love new scenes which they showed like Nala's escape or how looks life lions with hyenas and Scar. Even I appreciate how very much wanted Scar Sarabi. I love everything of this movie.

It’s not as good as the original, and it has flaws, but i think it’s still really good. The visuals are brilliant.

@@brownlightfury23there’s some parts that are improved, but the original is overall better. But i like that they added some more exposition at times, as well as scientific accuracy.

The lack of emotion in the animal's faces didn't impress me. Real animals have more emotion than the animators portrayed. This made it hard for me to enjoy the film as much as I wanted to. The lines felt like they were merely read, not acted (with the exception of Shenzi). The animated version will always be superior because of these reasons. I definitely liked it better than the live action Aladdin though.

Yeah..it's totally realistic for lions to plot the murder of their sibilings just like a clever power-thirsty human being would do.X-P

@@allanvaldecanas170 Scar plot the murder of his brother. Do you think _realistic lions_ do that? No!They fight and the stronger one wins.Period.What Scar did it's a _human_ thing to do,not somethine a _realistic lion_ would do!The fact _the CGI_ looks realistic(apart from the uncanney valley problem!X-P)doesn't mean _the movie_ is realistic as a whole.

@Lisek Tod The hatred is because they touched something that was untouchable. The 2019 remake is the old one, but just soulless. It’s people like you as to why Disney is laughing all the way to the bank.

This version was unnecessary garbage. CGI vomit, recycled premise, no anthropomorphic facial expressions. TO HECK WITH ALL THESE UNNESSARY DISNEY ANIMATION HYBRID-REMAKES!!!!! A bunch of 2D-haters out there exist, easily manipulated with now predictable CGI and recycled films. The 2D films are better by a longshot. Don't give me the whole "it's for a new generation" argument, because that is a useless argument. The concept of the modern audience is a myth, especially now with the rise of accursed social media over the past 10 years.
