I don't know if you knew, but the jam-scene is fully improvised. I really like that at first Aladdin is more awkward and unfamiliar with royal ways than in cartoon. In general, this is one of my favorite live actions and I prefer it to the original. I love the added backstories and the relationship between Dahlia and Genie. What I also like that while in animation, Genie is purely pissed at Aladdin for breaking his promise, here they have a deeper discussion about what it all means. Their whole relationship is deepened here very well. I guessed that you might be crying once or twice. :D Thanks for this reaction.

18:56 Actually the peddler from the beginning of the animated version was supposed to be revealed as Genie at the end of the movie, but it was dropped in revisions. That's why the peddler is voiced by Robin Williams and only has four fingers on each hand instead of five.😉

Frank Welker reprises his role as the Cave of Wonders from the original Aladdin (1992), making him the first cast member from a Disney animated feature to play the same character in the live-action remake, he is also abu and rajah in the original version. I love 💖 this movie!

Even though I like the animated film more, I can honestly say that I do enjoy this live adaptation to Aladdin. It is different enough to not be a carbon copy of the original, which is a good thing. Will Smith’s portrayal of Genie is very good imo. The song “Speechless” is my favorite from the soundtrack. I can’t say that I like everything about Aladdin 2019, but I still like it for what it is in the reimagined Disney film library.

I loved the Live Action soundtrack. It sounds more authentic, less Charleston. Listen to both intros to One Jump if you don’t believe me. Except for Speechless. It broke the native sounding orchestra, and sounded like it should have been the pop version played during the end credits.

The Genie also tells the tale of Aladdin and the lamp in the cartoon, he is a market seller. He's been a Genie for 10,000 years, but he was trapped in the lamp inside the cave for a 1,000. In the cartoon there's a part 2 and 3 (in which Aladdin marries Jazmin), but in this one, the Genie becomes human and Jazmin and Aladdin get married, so there will no be a sequel.

The live action Aladdin maybe different from the cartoon version but the movie itself is still great. Even though Gilbert Gottfried didn't play Iago in this version of the movie, he will still be dearly missed rest in peace Gilbert Gottfried.

what's great about this version, is like what you pointed out. This movie felt more like the musical than the original animated movie because it's also taking elements from the Aladdin Broadway Musical as well. Plus it's cool that Jasmine is also a Pink Power Ranger lol

24:45-24:55 - What seems is that Aladdin lost his confidence because he’s worried about making Jasmine mad and reject him again after the whole bracelet incident with Abu. Part of this film was all about Aladdin realizing that despite what happened, he needs to be true to himself and know that he’s a kind and likable person. Aladdin is one of the better Disney remakes alongside The Jungle Book.

Awesome reaction! Thanks so much for reacting to this film! I would say that I loved how it stayed faithful to the animated film, while also adding some new elements here and there. I especially loved how Aladdin, and Genie’s relationship was expanded upon, as well as Aladdin, and Jasmine’s, and that Genie ended up with Jasmine’s lady-in-waiting, Dalia. And the singing was definitely great for most, if not every character. As for Will Smith playing the Genie, definitely a nice touch too. The only thing that I at least felt ambivalent about was that Aladdin didn’t seem to feel bad about lying like he did in the animated version. Yes, he did come back around, but still. Also, how could you not like Aladdin, and Genie hugging at the end. Definitely a nice touch too. Well, great reaction once again!

This turned into a really long review of a comment, so be forewarned and I am sorry in advance. 😅 Aladdin is just near and dear to my heart. I'm a MASSIVE FAN of the whole Disney Aladdin franchise. I've been in the fandom since first joining the internet-sphere in 1999, been a fanartist and fanfic collaborator for it, and I've been collecting Aladdin stuff for the last 25-30 years including everything from toys and trinkets to fine art. I met my best friend of 23 years now through that fandom, too. I _thoroughly_ enjoyed this movie. The animated version is still my favorite, of course, but I thought they did a good job with this and made it just a fun, _different take_ on the story while still respecting the original. You can tell they didn't phone it in the way I feel they did with Beauty and the Beast. The only thing I really _did not like_ was the casting choice for Jafar. I have no idea wtf they were thinking there, but it's hard to compete with Jonathan Freeman. Will Smith, on the other hand, was my _dream casting_ for Genie from the time the project was first announced and I was floored that I actually got that wish granted, pun absolutely intended. I think he did a fantastic job by just making it his own instead of trying to compete with Robin Williams's version, because as he said himself there IS no competing with that greatness and he had tremendous respect for Robin. I honestly think some of the changes were actually for the better. The 2019 version of Arabian Nights is _absolutely amazing_ with the added Middle Eastern flare, percussion, and rewritten lyrics to make them less offensive to Middle Eastern culture. In the same vein, the rewritten lyric of _"he has ten thousand servants and flunkies"_ instead of _"he has slaves, he has servants, and flunkies"_ in Prince Ali is MUCH better as well. And I think just about everybody would agree that having Jasmine grab the lamp and launch herself off of the balcony was MUCH better than that creepy-ass kiss in the animated version (it was SUPPOSED to be creepy but still... eugh). All in all I enjoy this version a lot. I went with my mother and saw it at the first showing the night before official release, and when the end credits started rolling I remember turning to her with such _happy RELIEF_ and saying, "They didn't fuck it up. _They didn't fuck it up!!!"_ Sorry again for leaving such a long comment; I'm verbose about things that I love. lol

If you haven’t seen _Aladdin: The Return of Jafar_ yet, there is a song Jafar sings called “you’re only second rate.” I appreciated the improvement of Jafar’s character, but it was offset by the reduction of Iago. Also, have you heard the Friend Like Me duets/trios between Robin Williams, Will Smith, and sometimes Annapatsu?

I feel you bro,Before the kissing scene when the Gennie was reeling up a wish for Alladin it reminded me of when my bus driver back in the 7th grade would always have us sit in the front because we were kind of bad kid hate to admit it but we always liked to jump out of our seats at a speed bump, so on the last day of school me and the kids where crying he seen us crying and told us to go to the back of the bus the speed bump was coming, knowing exactly what he was exactly going to do I started balling, we hit the speed bump and then got off the bus i said "thank you for being my bus driver" while still balling, and walked home, I'm going to the 8th grade now if i ever become a professional singer I'm going to give him a gift.

The fact that you point out that Jasmine's song must be in her head is exactly part of the reason I hate its PLACEMENT. It should have been in the first act of the film and the little reprise of it she did in the first act should've been where they had the whole song. Not doing that was weird and terribly paced. The song itself is great.

I think that’s why I love the five action of one, it wasn’t just a basic copy of the original Will Smith in try to copy Robin Williams, he just put his own spin on it. Also the actress who is Princess Jasmine is Naomi Scott. I highly recommend you check out her Disney Channel feel Lemonade Mouth; it’s a great underrated film about how five teenagers become a band that inspires others to use their voices. 🧞‍♂️

I know I was in the minority of viewers who liked this film better than the animated one, but I really did. I first went to it on one of my bestfriend's bachellorette weekends, she had already been to it so many times. She's Canadian Indian and spent her middle school years in India, and the Bollywood vibes of this movie and the cast just brought her so much joy 💙 it was beautiful to see her pure joy start to finish of this film. it became one of my go to films to virtually watch with friends during the pandemic. This one, Love and Monsters, and Knives Out. ❤❤❤ So glad you got to watching this one! it's really more entertaining than it was given credit for when it came out.

Will Smith and Aladdin chemistry was amazing. I actually, believed he was Aladdin for real. His character was so dreamy, and clumsy in just the right spots. The only thing is the Actress who plays Jasmine ruined it for me. She didn't capture Jasmin, and there was no romantic connection between them. I didn't like the song she sung as well. The huge pause in the middle was awkward, and threw everything off, and wasn't good to me. Other than that the giant scenes, with the animals and the entrance was great. It captured the animated scene perfectly I think.

If Robin Williams was alive, he would encourage whoever played Genie to make the comedy and role their own. He might even note how much more difficult or expensive CGI animation can be than hand drawn, and hence his own imitation style would have been harder to adapt to the new visual style.

I’ve noticed that the best remakes improve the villain, while the worst ones reduce or replace. Maleficent? Vast improvement. Shere Khan? Actually scary. Compare cartoon polite hunter with Kaa with the live Akela or Cuckoo bird scene. Lady Tremaine? Significant backstory improvement. Pete’s Dragon and Dumbo, on the other hand… capitalism as the villain. Live Action Scar was a general downgrade, especially if you’ve seen the Broadway version. Improvements: “again.” Neutral: A scene with him hunting, and the hyenas guarding the lionesses. Bad: they completely butchered Be Prepared. The song that originally shows Scar believing himself the hero but actually crazy, by having him sing in syncopated heroic verse.
