Watching this live is quite enthralling, and suspenseful. We saw a touring production where the "tree" was situated relatively far above the stage, and you're praying that Simba's safety line doesn't snap while the dancers are mimicking a stampede.

Traditionally, when the king dies they've already named the successor, and he's set up to take over the moment the old king dies. "The king is dead. Long live the king!" In this case, Scar placed himself as the new king because he's planned to kill Simba. So, you're right on both counts.

in the play I was in, the back row of wildebeest had to catch mufasa as he fell. If we didn't catch him Right he would have broken his tailbone. During the practice the day before the play we almost dropped him. Its pretty funny to look back on because he was a swearing mess

This composition is so strong that it doesn't even need words to tell the story! One of my favorite pieces of music! I loved The Lion King on Broadway, especially this part with all of the gazelle on the rotating wheel, it was definitely crazy to watch!!

I don’t know if this is true for all the versions of this show, but when I saw it in London back in 2007, Mufasa shouted Scar’s name as he fell and I remember thinking “Okay, how come Simba didn’t hear that and put two and two together?”

I've seen this production twice (once in London when I was 11, then again in Bristol last night), and it's really impressive how they did this scene. I think the London version may have been better due to having a larger stage and thus more space to work with the background elements, but they were both very good.

the actor who plays simba is just running in place while the wildebeest chase him.when Mufafa shows and tries to break his way through, he saves simba..later its just the head of scar telling mufasa, long live the king and mufasa falls to his fate.
