5:36 Your reaction moves me to tears. So beautiful. All-female Metal bands from Japan just play Metal as it is meant to sound: _Amazing_ , _moving_ . Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie, Hágane... And that is only the tip of the iceberg, we only scratch the surface. As you said: Japan holds the future of Metal. Western bands had their time, and they wrote amazing masterpieces, but now it's Japan's turn. And all-female bands took the lead.

"Hagane", spoken about like "Huh guh nae", emphasized on the first syllable. It means "steel" in Japan. There was a band line-up insiders call "former Hagane", because it was a five-piece band (already all-female), but three members (except for the bass player and the guitarist) left. All fans thought: "That was it." Then the new singer (Nagi) came, and the three _asked_ the drummer (Junna) to join them. She accepted - and "the rest is history"! An incredible transformation.

By the way, Sakura Yoshida, the guitarist of this band, learned to play guitar from her father, also a metal guitarist. So she is a second generation metal. She jammed with Marty Friedman, on his TV show

Thank you for featuring Hagane (pronounced HA-ga-neh). They have to be considered one of the hot, up and coming groups, though they had to go through a major reboot in 2023. “Hagane” has multiple meanings in Japanese but the main meaning is “Steel”. Given the trials and tribulations they have survived, the name is appropriate. They were originally a five-piece with dual leads; they have recently re-formed as a four piece (more on that below). The initial lineup came together in 2018, just as they were all finishing high school. Founding guitarist Sakura had been posting metal covers on youtube since she was 14, and gained notoriety as a technical beast with a taste for ferocious shredding. That is how most of the other band-members found her. Original lineup: Vocal: Chiemi Guitar : Sakura Yoshida (also writes and arranges most of the music) Guitar : Mayto Bass : Sayaka Drum : Kanako Takahashi (b. 2001) In 2019, Chiemi left and was replaced by Uyu. The band released three concert DVDs and a full-length album (“Code 9021”) during her tenure. In early 2023, the band announced the departures of three members-Uyu, Mayto and Kanako. They spent the next year rebuilding. They have re-formed as a four-piece, with the already famous Junna on drums. Junna was previously one of the original members of Kakumei (later rebranded as Trident), and has a popular youtube channel where she posts hyperactive solo drum covers of metal songs. New vocalist Nagi has replaced Uyu. This is her first professional gig. Hagane 3.0: Guitars: Sakura Bass: Sayaka Drums: Junna Vocals: Nagi Hagane are clearly playing in a similar space as groups like Mary’s Blood, Bridear, Nemophila and Lovebites-melodic, hard, heavy and technical. Early on, however, they developed their own signature sound, built around exotic scales, syncopated rhythms and the aforementioned high-octane shredding. Their songwriting is mature, far beyond what you should be able to expect from a bunch of people this young. The new lineup have released an EP, “Life Goes On”, with five tracks including an instrumental. Despite not having the dual attack, it looks like they haven’t lost a step-Junna is insane as ever on drums, and Sakura is just on fire. When Junna (their new/current drummer) joined Hágane, she was more famous than them. 😂 Junna learned drumming in early childhood, and became famous on KZbin for drum covers of famous drummers. Just take her cover of "Through the fire and flames" (original by Dragonforce) here on KZbin, in Junna's personal channel. Dragonforce's drummer watched it, too, and says, that she did the best cover he ever watched.

The band name is name is pronounced (Ha - gon- nee) Now this is what I call metal. You'll get more of this on my list of bands. Check out song Tenka Goken by them next. The band had a recently went through a member change where 3 members left (2023). Here is a break down of the changes Of the Members who left - Uyu (Vocals) and Mayto (Guitar) went on to form Mana Diagram. KanKo (Drummer) went on to be the drummer for Yeti Valhalla,. But the whole band left him. She has been a support drummer for PaleNeO and other projects. New Members - (2024) Junna (Drummer) One of the best drummers I've seen in Japan, or anywhere. She was in the band later called Trident after she left and also her solo work. Nagi (Vocals) is pretty new on the scene but has a great voice. Members that stayed. Guitarist Sakura Yoshida (2018-present) is the creator of the band. I only discovered this band last summer, so for member introductions and their history, please refer to the comments from more knowledgeable fans. That said, there was an official announcement from these amazing ladies at the end of last year (December 2024), revealing that an official fan club will be launched this February 2025. I’ll probably join the fan club, and I’m planning to attend their concert for the first time this year.

Subbed, oh Great Lion. hagane has revived in the last year after most bandmembers left but new came in. Actually, I think they are better now, the sound has grown thicker and more distinct. Prior I found them to be a more middle of the road type rock/metal band. Their visual kei set up is great still, though, love the uniforms. This is new lineup of HAGANE with 2 new members Junna (Drummer) and Nagi (Vocalist), while the old members are Sakura (Guitarist + Founder) and Sayaka (Bassist), In fact they lost 4 members, that is first Vocalist in 2019 and 3 other members again Vocalist, Guitarist and Drummer in 2023.

I 2nd @metalmark1214 comments below....I prefer the new iteration of this band. I will correct the pronunciation....it is ha-ga-nay....it translates to steel in English and anytime a Japanese word ends with a "e" its pronunciation is an "a".... Junna started out in girls rock band Kazumi, which changed their name to Trident ( i recommend them as well...3 piece and great bassist) when they got a recording deal, Junna left not wanting to sign the deal....she stayed onboard till they got a replacement but her kit always had her name on it. She then did freelance for Marty Freidmans band and would fill in for Fate-Gear when they traveled internationally prior to being recruited by Sakura to join.....Sakura has been on Marty's show in Japan many times. Junna is also really good friends with the Lovebites drummer

Thanks for the correct pronunciation. I've heard it pronounced the way I wrote it but the way you wrote it. From now on I'll make sure to have it end with an "a" sound. I've heard that Haruna (Lovebites) is friends with Akane (Band-Maid) but didn't know about Haruna's friendship with Junna.
