I love the opening beat as the song begins (doo doot da doo...), and then Marina and Fritz appear. I used to watch this over and over! The dancing swimming is so artful

Does anyone remember the previews before the movie on the beta version? there's one that terrified me as a kid, and I've been trying to figure out what it is for decades. It was like, cartoon characters in a forest or something. I don't remember very much about it.

Why did them buther the original animators except for the original achor of the story and never give credits to the Japanese creators and them did not keep the original music and in Japanese version the street of London with white people foreign people footage is der(I am a Philippines)and them remove all Japanese text except for toe animation and remove the Japanese music theme opening and change the whole strict and the storyline plot the Japanese version is available on the enternet with English subtitle and HDHQ HDR 3D colorful quality remaster and the sound quality too.

You should check da Japanese version bluray remaster colorfully with English subtitles the English dub is not a literal translation and many cuts

The English did some Americanized and uncessary change and cut some scence and change the strict example them delete anime expression scence like sweat embrassnent.shock.panic.blush.nosebleed is cut in the English dub and buther the Japanese animators except for toe animation credits but Japanese version is available with subtitles uncut in a bruray remaster version on HDHQ HDR colorful quality and the sound quality is available on the net

Ah don't worry. I got it on DVD. Though the opening title was different from the vhs version. The DVD version has the Japanese texts. I could not understand it and the singer who sang the opening song.....something different than having instrumental

How can dis be a best version the English dub did many cuts and uncessary change in the story and buther original Japanese creators credits and did not keep original music and hide everything Japanese and deleted anime expression. This is too dark for children to watch. Kids love a happy ending not something they want to remember seeing Marina sacrifice herself. I know it’s supposed to be the real thing in Hans Christian Andersen didn’t want to ruin their childhood. I prefer Disney because my niece loves this version but later on I would show this to her when she’s older.

I did SOB when I first saw it at age 5, screaming "I want the redhair-re-he-eeed" coz my mom bought this one mistakenly on vhs instead if the Disney version xD nonthless, 30 years later, I prefer and value rhis version more wirh all my heart :)

A lot of fairytales used to be quite "dark". It's quite a beautiful story and as a small child I also liked it even with that ending. The fact that it doesn't have a typical Disney happy ending doesn't make it unsuitable for children to watch. Of course if a child really doesn't like such stories, then that's a different thing.
