he really is lucky to have a piano lying around in his house. even luckier that his parents could afford to send him to piano class. i thought myself songs by ears too, just like him. my mom promised me that she'll send me to piano lesson if our finance was stable. i'm 18 now, and i've stopped playing the piano because even now, we are having problems financially and i guess i was just emotionally discouraged. i don't blame my mother, i love her and i thank her for always trying and never giving up and i'm just saying all this just to get it off of my chest (*wipes tears*) ✌🙂

Potato cat, hope that there might be a community or church piano near your home that you can play and practice on - even if you can simply afford a used keyboard, it will keep you going until you can afford something a little more sophisticated - if its in your heart to play music you'll find a way. Keeping on keeping on might lead to new opportunities. Stay positive.

Potato Cat don't give up. I have been wanting to play the piano for many years now. I took a few lessons when I was about 23 years old, but my schedule just became more and more busy. Every time I see young people like Brandon or older ones like Billy Joel, Harry Connick Jr. and others, they inspire me to want to get back to my self help books and keyboard. I do not plan to give up. I will just have to sacrifice some time and effort and do what I have to do to learn. I encourage you to get a keyboard or other instrument, and do what you must so that you can develop your talent. Don't give up! We can do it, and we will.

Oh my gosh, potato cat, please take heart and believe what all of us say here! You can do it! I teach music, and I always tell people it's never too late to bring music into your life! You can get an electric keyboard very inexpensively off craigslist (or elsewhere, like Salvation Army or ebay), or tell everyone you know (including your teachers) that you're looking for a keyboard. Someone will come through for you. Then, find fabulous free lessons right here on KZbin! There are lots of great teachers ready to teach you! So let your heart lead you, and let music be part of your life once again!!

I've known this guy since we were 6. He was a great student, and a great friend. Sadly, he had to transfer because some kids in my class were jealous, and told him his music was terrible and that they were better than him. I'm sorry to say that these kids were my friends, and I didn't stand up for him. He wouldn't have been bullied and i would still be his friend.

@maxsimes
@maxsimes 3 жыл бұрын
@@rodericgray5202 he is definitely talented. its just something in how the speech is structured that makes it seem as if hes not talking about himself from his own perspective, you know? i could give countless examples in his speech pattern that make it seem unnatural coming from a 9 year old. the speech itself seems too "rational", but in reality, a gifted child doesnt "start to analyze the keys" etc, but just develops the interest naturally. his speech sounds like his proud (and rightly so, im not saying anything) mom is talking about him to other moms. i hope you can understand where im coming from, and if not, id love to have a discussion

Excellent presentation. Not all kids at a young age have a clue navigating the world around them and choose specific music instruments. Some already have a passion in something they want to do like piano music, painting, etc. When it comes to music, some parents get their kids into music lessons (especially Classical music) as an academic exercise (a way to teach kids discipline). When kids grow up, they ended up hating music so much the piano or other instruments just sit at home with nobody touching it. Many Asians parents who tend to get their kids into piano or violin by default and sometimes the cello because of the influence of Yo-Yo Ma. They probably think it would be easier to measure kids' progress against each other if they all play similar instruments. Besides an old-fashioned acoustic piano, there is the electronic substitute many parents would buy. They are more affordable especially if you don't know if your kids will continue to play after the first year. It is much easier to pass along to the next person without having to hire a mover.

I would have liked to hear Brandon when he played by ear, and not after being taught. I've always felt a student begins to play like his tutor and loses some of his original flair. A style that would have been all his own. His love for music is obvious and wonderful, but his amazing speaking ability and personality comes over so well. I can imagine him being a presenter, pianist like Jools Holland.... Or similar, if he never goes on to love the boogie.

He's technically much better than his choice in music..... You can hear from the jazz runs in the intro of the first song. He needs to branch out into more technical jazz instead of chord based classics if he wants to fulfil his full potential and challenge himself, BUT for now he's a kid and if that's what he enjoys playing :)
