I didn't watch until all the normies started shilling it. Watched it. Still didn't like it. Still don't like it. Watching it properly only informed me on why my initial beliefs were absolutely correct. My time was again wasted by midwit thinking, because I'm willing to stoop to their level and engage in good faith..... Just to have my bias confirmed and my time wasted.

The thing that made me really love the adaptation was when they were in kayas mansion i think and the staircase ends wuth two decorative pirate penguins ripped straight from one of odas cover arts that i immediately noticed and made me pause and freak out cause its one of my, and apparently one of someone elses favorite cover arts by oda

The thing that I didn’t like, was that zoro had some sense of humor in the beginning of the series, he use to laugh more and became more serious after the journey. this zoro is too serious from moment 1

To add to your comment about the Live Action being too serious, I've said this once and I'm gonna say it million times more. One Piece is and should be a sitcom. Or at least treated like one. Especially East Blue. Obviously there shouldn't be laugh track, but they should treat the series more like modern sitcoms especially akin to the series like "The Good Place" or "What We Do in Shadows" where it's absurdist, larger than life fantasy sitcoms. Or maybe they could've gone the Kung Fu Hustle or Space Jam route. All of those are still very fun, very outlandish world and most importantly more truer to the spirit of One Piece. And due to the comedic nature, they can get away with more cheesy lines and bad/cartoonish CGI. The Good Place especially should be the blueprint. It's a funny show that knows when it needs to be serious and can still tell a very emotional story. They literally have a walking Lava man. Not to mention, Jason is significantly more Luffy than this Live Action one (even Inaki is even more Luffy than his character's portrayal). People seems to forget that One Piece is first and foremost a comedy series. It's both an epic fantasy and a COMEDY. Both aspect of the series should be treated equally. But the comedy part seems to be an afterthought for this series. It has comedy, but they seems to be occupied with the action and epic fantasy elements significantly more. The comedy takes significant backseat in this series which kinda contradicts Luffy's character of being more Looney Tunes-like. MelonTee made a great video about the special thing about One Piece which is true to its theme, is that One Piece (manga/anime) have a freedom of genre. Meaning they can be anything that they want. If the series wants to be horror, they can. So why not just start with making it a sitcom first and then slowly transition it to more dramatic and serious tone. It shouldn't restrict itself to just only action, drama and epic fantasy genre with a tinge of comedy.

The show is really good and that comes from someone who has watched and read one piece for a large chunk of my lifs. I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. There are issues i have and crutial parts of the story that are missing but overall i doubt the series is going to go on for as long as the manga/anime. My best guess is it will end at alabasta i so many of the issues like sanji not seeing zoros duel with mihawk and don krige i can give a pass.

on a second watch i found myself enjoying it a lot more and taking it at face value much more than constantly comparing it to the manga, it clicks less with me because the language of a big TV show like that but this is a sucessful adaptation of one piece to this format i believe

I take one look at the prosthetics on Arlong and I know this is going to become a train wreck pretty quick. Success is in the integrity of the media, not in attracting mass audiences for viewership. (FOR AN *ADAPTATION* OF EXISTING MEDIA)

One of the worst takes I've seen about the anime is "Wano is bad because it off-screens everything, but the anime fixes that." Yeah right, like extending the action in Sanji vs Page One somehow benefits the story or gives it more substance. I've also seen people say the anime improved Kaido"s character because of how he's animated in the the fight scenes. Some episodes elevate certain things, like 1015, but the overall adaptation of the Wano arc does not.

Weirdly enough I brought that up in the Naruto video we uploaded right before this one. The anime made Sanji vs page one flashy and fun to watch. But it didn’t give Sanji or page 1 and interesting dynamic that didn’t exist before. Or give page 1 a backstory. Or do more things for Sanji’s character (aside for some more cute gags I guess). That’s one we definitely plan on tackling in Bad One Piece Opinions part 3.

Thank you. I am glad that someone is actually being critical of the show. Everyone is just praising the show without actually talking about its shortcomings. I don't care if you like or dislike the show but at least admit when it didn't get it right and not act as if it is the best thing since sliced bread.

As a writer, that's not encouraging in the slightest. No show will be perfect and that's ok. Also, I didn't like the anime so give it props for letting me consider it

I’ll be fair and accept a lot of “criticism”, especially online, is just thinly veiled hate, or even if the criticisms are fair, they’re worded in ways that aren’t. But even still, this is not one of those examples. People are able to dislike a show and have reasons for it. There are problems I have with the adaption too, and I liked it a decent amount. That’s why you should engage with criticism, not just the people who already agree with your opinion. (Also, good artists of any kind of art usually desire fair criticism instead of blind praise) My problem wasn’t with you disagreeing with them, to be clear. It was just the notion that people who disagree with you on art aren’t worth at least hearing out. No hate. Edit: also, read the manga online. It’s faster to read and better than the anime, as well as containing things that were cut out from the anime (if you’re still considering it)

I just say clearly that i didnt expected almost nothing from this show at the beginning but it surpassed my skeptical opinion, sure its not perfect but this is more "close" in some way to the original source material that its enjoyable but another reason that it looks good, its because we saw too many sh*ts from hollywood and wokeness from Netflix XD
