This trailer is extremely misleading. It makes the film look like a lighthearted, quirky romantic comedy, when in reality, it is extremely dark and unsettling. I haven't felt so uncomfortable watching a movie in some time. That being said, it's outstanding. 10/10

This is where humour diverges. I found the film extremely funny. In the auditorium where I sat there were several moments when the entire audience laughed out loud. But still, it is a highly unsettling, extremely dark and uncomfortable film. But to be fair, so is the music in this trailer. So it's not that misleading after all. :)

I finally got to watch this movie recently - it became my second favorite immediately, I loved the themes and symbolism. I ADORE his films! Fantastic. I see so much film I'm rarely shaken, moved, struck by the cinematography. His films do all that. I remember falling in love with Peter Greenaways story telling. He reminds me a little of him, abd a little of Kubrik, but is entirely his own! I have to purchase all his films on DVD. And look forward to another! ❤

@@leeluv96 It's really not Grand Budapest Hotel, the trailer is mean spirited in that way. The movie isn't quirky what you're seeing is the punchlines of jokes that never really land delivered in a weird high on GHC acting method. It looks funny for being so wacky but it just feels uncomfortable all the way through, there's no resolution, the word is never satisfyingly explored. Imagine Grand Budapest Hotel meets Hotel Artemis in the most awkward way with the cast of Twilight playing the roles.
@leeluv96

@@michaelemminger4864, I saw the movie and I disagree. It is similar in it's approach. The reason the punchlines never landed is because they left them up to the viewer. That was refreshing to me because I tend to lean towards not being told every thing in a movie. Let my mind fill in the blanks even if it's incorrect it will be colorful, AND my mind will have been stimulated.

If you love what this movie does to you you're a masochist, not a cinema lover. Beyond poor production and half-hearted performances the movie is convoluted with imagery that doesn't carry it's surreal theme and culture shock that only works if the film is grounded in anything. It's a film experience and you could watch it to experience it's oddity and some good-enough deadpan humor but it's sub-Zardoz film making.

Lobsters don't die they just get older and older until something kills it. Maybe he was just getting older lost in the sea. I think he's quite clever

The tone of this trailer is so frickin different from, and somehow better and funnier than, the movie itself imo. The movie just gave me anxiety and I laughed once

I get it you know I totally understand the symbolism and how it pits couples and singles against each other and holds being part of a couple up as a kind of dream goal everybody is forced to aspire to, very clever. I also get how the rules of the film dictate they cant be together unless they have something in common, also they can't lie to each other as the bass of the relationship and everybody speaks in truths so I do understand why the ending is necessary/logical within the boundaries of the film. Having said that I never felt the film was clever enough to justify it's own purposeful sense of unease. It didn't really explore the themes deeper or leave me walking away asking myself new questions or rethinking current assumptions. The ending for me essentially was just a macabre "Would you rather" question. So yeah I agree it had potential but in my opinion the film never made use of the tools it laid out for itself with the premise and instead just served as depressing waste of an hour and a half in my personal opinion.

Nope. Watch it again. Look at how the actors are acting. They're not acting that way for no reason. What are they acting like? The scene at the shooting range and the scene at the pool are the most obvious.

Yup the price of humanity is the cost of humanity. They all live in a rush to feel and yet feel nothing. They fear being animals and yet they become animals. They want to love so bad they lie to love

I tried watching this with my girlfriend, and right at the dog scene her eyes filled with tears. Our dog was on the bed sleeping in the same position as the dog on screen, and she had uncontrollable tears. We couldn't watch the rest, I had to watch it alone later. I honestly think the movie could have carried on without the gruesome scene, but that's just me. I'm all for gore filmography, but only when it's a gore film. This film has the opportunity to hit average film goers, yet I have heard of multiple people disliking, and being soured due to that one scene.

We would choose solitude over being with someone who doesn't ignite our hearts. We don’t love the ones we yearn to; instead, we find ourselves loving those who don’t love us back.

Definitely a dark humor that is actually quite funny imo, especially the hotel host lady. The movie seemed slow but for a purpose. I kept thinking the ending would make up for it and it did in some senses. Seemed like a the whole movie was trying to poke fun at blind love, in a dark manner / funny / silly manner. Overall, didn't disappoint, would definitely watch again. But wouldn't list it as one of my new favorites. Really well made / written / shot movie no doubt.
