Hi Earl, Franks Grandson here. Do you recall your father owning a "Raider" Stiletto? Grandpa bought one back and i read somewhere a small number were given to scout-snipers also so i can only guess he got his while on scout-sniper duties with your old man.

Bloody outstanding Dave, this help's me look back where my Grandpa - Plt. Sgt. Frank Few once stood, fought and survived the Goettge Patrol! It must have been difficult filming this amongst the locals looking on, you deserve a medal for that. BTW, i found a documentary film reel titled "Guadalcanal, One Mans Memories" when sorting through some of Grandpas old film reels. I placed it on the 16mm projector and was blown away to find Grandpa walking along the shores of Guadalcanal in 1973 whilst narrating the memoir film! I knew the film existed but always thought it was a sit down interview, never thought he actually travelled to the Canal with a small team in tow and filmed it. I took the film off to preserve it whilst i look for a means to digitize it.

Excellent. I am really liking your vids and the down to earth explanations of the battles in detail, especially with a soldier’s eye and language. You have a natural talent for explaining what can be complex events in easy to understand terms. Keep them coming.

So many mistakes made on this patrol. Again thanks for your videos. Read so much about the patrol, but being able to see the location is next level!

Thats cool i took pictures of those tank tracks back in 1992 i just figured that after the war somebody moved those tracks and other metal out there as a sort of breakwater...somewhere around that same general area there was a Deuce and half frame and axles pushed up away from the water no engine/transmission or cab just the frame and some scraps of sheetmetal
