The reason that Russell won it was because he was an unapologetic villain. He didn't try to pretend that he wasn't a villain. Kind of like how Rob was in the top 4 of the first one and won it once. The fans respect the strategery.

I think Rob just didnt consider himself a typical "villain". Most people don´t to be fair. Russell embraced the role of villain so much that it cost him the game though, if he was more humble and diplomatic with the jurors instead of proudly rubbing salt in their wounds, he might have won Samoa or HVV.

Great video! I think the thing to remember is that the voting for Player of the Season didn't open until a week or two before the finale, which is why Brenda came so close despite being pretty invisible in the pre-merge. She had a couple of really big episodes just before the finale, so she was fresh in peoples' minds.

What may be important to note is that there was a portion of the online Survivor fan community who had been really upset with Survivor's editing and casting decisions for a while and these feelings kind of came to a head with Caramoan. There was a lot of frustration within fan groups that I was a part over strategy seeming to take a backseat to drama in the edits of episodes, there was a lot of bad vibes surrounding Brandon's exit with many feeling as if Brandon should not have been on the show a second (or even first) time, and there was a lot of displeasure with fan favorite Brenda receiving a purple edit. Not to take anything away from Brenda as she is, legitimately, a fan favorite, but I do think that a lot of the fan favorite votes for her were also protest votes against the show. I think many of the fan favorite votes for Brenda were also votes designed to send a message to producers in hopes that future seasons' casting and editing decisions would play out differently.

I totally agree that I'm glad the fan favorite vote is going away. It's such at the whim of the edit. Plus, if you happen to be a new player on a mixed season with returnees, you're totally screwed. You could be the best player in the world but if you lose and your game potentially made the eventual winner look bad, you'll get purpled so fast. At least in Big Brother, the live feeders know the score and can try to give votes to the player who actually deserves to win.

I think the fan favorite award was a good thing, adding another element to a player needing to be a good tv character too. So long as the fans could never impact the game itself I think it was fun. I find it funny how in the seasons where 1 players dominates they also get the award, specifically JT, Boston Rob, and Kim. When the season revolves around 1 players taking control and being quite entertaining compared to everyone else it makes sense but they also kind of earn it for carrying the season. Then you have Bob who barely tried strategically but was just so nice and smart.

I know that this is late, but Spencer is number one for me! I'm gonna be honest I am very bias towards Spencer as my first season was second chance, I was 8 when I first watched it, and as an 8 year old who also happens to have the first name of Spencer, he was my survivor hero! The two seasons with him in it are by far my favorites, and I even memorized the order of how people get voted out, who wins the pre-tribe swap challenges (first, second, and third), and I know who wins each individual immunity challenge (I have to see what the challenge is first), in Brains vs Brawns vs Beauty LOL But enough of my fanboying xD I am just happy that Spencer is on someone elses favorite list xD

It was a big debacle. Yau-mann won the car in a challenge and offered to give the car to Dreamz if Dreamz didn't vote out Yaumann at Tribal council. So Dreamz decided he would backstab Yaumann and voted him out anyway. I am sure you can find the clip on youtube.
