My all time favorite is the "secret second season" conspiracy. Basically, the theory goes there was a season filmed between Borneo and Outback that was never aired because the cast was boring and the winner was unlikable. Not wanting to have two villainous winners back to back that early on and possibly turning off viewers they paid the cast off and shelved it. Later, this conspiracy was morphed into the idea that the secret season was eventually shown and it was Thailand. Obviously ridiculous but the idea of a secret old school season never seen by anyone is a fun idea.

I think only James and Alexis did, and James was such a massive favorite they were willing to look past it. Which also explains Alexis not having been back, because lets be honest, the idea that a girl who went as deep as she did, was as popular with fans as she was, and is as hot as she is wouldnt get brought back is a little unbelievable. It makes sense to me that the producers were wiling to cut bait on a widely popular and intelligent hot girl, which they have had a ton of over the years, but not on somebody as beloved as james was at the time. Or maybe they were going to cut both players, but felt it was fair to give james 1 more to make up for his clearly legitimate injury.

is that Kim one not a fact and why they aren't allowed to talk on the way now? That is the opposite of a conspiracy. Season 2 being Thailand is so dumb, that is why it doesn't get taken seriously. Even if it is true, many shows do not air seasons for many different reasons. One in Britain wasn't aired a season on ex on the beach because of a contestants suicide after filming. The issue is, that the US feel entitled to answers more than they actually are. This just isn't a big thing that anyone should care as much about as they do. Hardly a conspiracy, posts like these remind me why there are so many anti vaxxers and flat earthers in the US. People over there go way too hard over nothing.

Cook Islands Parvati is an underrated character. Didn't play hard (because she never needed to, she was in a dominant alliance until she got majorly screwed), but still showed flashes of manipulation that will be evident in the seasons to come (became the de-facto leader of the now-minority Raro alliance, tried to tempt Yul and Ozzy with charm and strategy to flip, evidently she became so dangerous that they voted her out before Adam who was winning some of the immunity challenges)

I agree about the bottle theory in Cook Islands. There was just one bottle and the producers were banking on Aitu winning that challenge, which was a fair bet. I do wonder what would have happened if you remove the bottle twist though. Rebecca goes home and it's 6 to 4 favoring Raro. Yul may have had to play his super idol to save himself, but I think he still may have been able to flip Penner to his side, giving them a 5-4 majority anyway. It's fun to imagine what may have happened but I think Yul still would have made it deep and may have still won.
@cutepiku
@cutepiku 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've always theorized they have multiple challenges planned in case the voting goes a certain way, and it really seems like they also gear challenges to the advantage of whatever person/tribe they like, so the one bottle theory makes perfect sense to me. They did a challenge that was physical to give the Aitu 4 their advantage, and had only one bottle prepared because they figured it was a shoo-in.
@roger_towny_jr
@roger_towny_jr 3 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't have mattered if Raro just took the challenges more seriously. Nate and Adam were physically stronger than both Yul and Ozzy, and Parv Candice and Jenny were all stronger than Becky and Sundra. Jonathan was no slouch, and they had ONE liability in Rebecca. So just have her compete in the reward and put your A-Team up for immunity. Problem was they got too cocky. They had the numbers (and people on the outs they wanted to get rid of) so they didn't think it mattered if they lost immunity challenges. Their complacency cost them the game (as well as keeping Penner around but refusing to talk strategy with him.)
@christoman2000
@christoman2000 3 жыл бұрын
Compared to others, I never thought the bottle twist was strange. Cook Islands was the first 20 person season (Palau really doesn’t count). In order to keep the 14 episode season, there would need to be 3 episodes with double boots. There was the time both tribes visited tribal, the bottle twist, and the the finale which usually already had 2 boots. There needed to be a double boot built somewhere into the season ahead of time, I think they just changed when it was introduced.

@Raheem Fielder-Bey The "White" players really only have themselves to blame. They made the choice to get cliquy, pick off the minorities, and not branch out their allegiances after the swap. Surprised the theory about Christy voting for the wrong person in Amazon didn’t make the list. If you didn’t know, the rumour was that she misunderstood the final vote and voted for Jenna, thinking she was voting her out of FTC and therefore giving Matt the win. She hated Jenna and people assumed she’d never vote for her to win. Adding fuel to the fire, Christy’s final voting confessional was missing from the CBS website (similar to Jane’s). The thing that sucks about this conspiracy theory is that Christy is Deaf and there were no interpreters out there. There’s this super gross implication that being Deaf means you’re dumb or something, and it’s never sat right with me. Of course misunderstandings can still happen, to anyone, but there’s always been this vibe of “she didn’t know what she was doing because she’s Deaf” vibe and it’s really awful.

That makes a lot of sense. I have hearing problems (not deaf but I can't tell where sounds come from) so it's very hard to navigate even having most of my hearing intact, it does put me in some dangerous and awkward positions, like if a door opens right next to me I rarely think to move away, because to my ears it could be from the opposite side or even behind me. Same with objects flying at my head that I can't see, the whistle doesn't indicate to me that it's getting closer to me, I just hear an object moving fast somewhere. I have to be constantly aware of my surroundings, whenever I enter a new place I always make sure I get a good read of the exits, danger that could happen from something falling, where people are relative to me every couple minutes. I really look paranoid, just constantly glancing around any room I'm in just to make sure I don't get caught off guard. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it was for Christy, I always remember that scene of her asking a tribe mate to fill her in on what they talk about at night because she can't read their lips in the dark. She's one of my favorites for sure

You have a good point there. He reached down to grab it so it was out of view to everyone but the film crew and maybe the most observant of players. i actually kinda liked the bottle twist that eliminated 2 players instead of one. it was kinda a win-win. if aitu won the challenge, the other tribe would have to sacrifice two members and even the playing field, making it a more exciting game where you now had an underdog team to root for. but if aitu lost the challenge, and had to get rid of two members, it speeds up the tedious process of picking off the aitu members one by one, which could’ve been a pretty boring couple of episodes

My favorite conspiracy is that in season 2, the producers saw another Pagonging coming and needed to figure out a way to even up the tribes at the merge, so they paid Skupin to "fall" into the fire and burn his hands. Medical emergency makes for more mainstream coverage, 5-5 split at the merge makes for more interesting strategic options, a player being taken before their time gives them a "heroic" final episode. Of all the players on that tribe, who braver, stupider, better, and more believable than Skupin to take a header into the fire? Remember, this was the height of Survivor mania, and presumably the height of Survivor having a lot of money to throw around, so throwing Skupin a secret $150k payout would be a sound investment in publicity and the future of the game.

Hey Peridiam! Love your videos, and I have a few ideas of potential series you could do going forward: "Story of ___" or "____'s Survivor History" where you go in-depth to a specific player's Survivor career, wheher they are controversial, beloved, underrated, etc. I know you've already made an in-depth video about each winner's road to victory in each of their seasons, but this series could focus more on their evolution over multiple seasons (if they've had any), what makes them a distinct player, and how you feel about them personally! "Iconic Episodes" Shorter play-by-play videos that go over, well, iconic episodes of Survivor. Whether through an interesting strategy, a surprising blindside, a shining character moment or anything else that sticks out! I feel like this would be cool for any interesting episodes that don't get mentioned often because they're either a part of a "meh" season or they just don't get much attention otherwise

I have two related to the Outcast Twist in Pearl Islands. Redemption Island/EOE has been used as a safety net for popular players like Boston Rob, Ozzy, and Joe, but what about someone who has never played before? Maybe the Outcast Twist was introduced in PI specifically to protect Rupert? In the event he was voted out pre-merge he almost certainly would be in the Burton position of leading his tribe to victory and would have a ready-made underdog story. The other theory is that the Outcast twist was going to be used again in All-Stars but was scrapped due to negative feedback. “What the...?” Pt.1 aired four days before All Stars began filming.

That last one is absolutely wild cause, like, on one hand production wants three people they wanted on their show out quickly, but also all three of them were also apparently good enough for them to want to win a season outright? Also, is South Pacific is a season biased for one particular player to win, that player was Ozzy, not Coach. Redemption Island does have a lot of ‘let Rob win’ energy, though, so there’s one point in that. While Redemption Island had a lot of potential crutches for Rob, however, I still think he put in a lot of work for that win.

The idea of any theory that has Rob be removed early from the game by the producers should be utterly foolish for that reason alone. They build an entire goddamn season off the gimmick of Russell vs. Rob, why would Jeff cut this feud short when they actually shared the same tribe the first time? This also ignores that Rob has been a massive producer's favorite for far longer than Russell.
@TequilaMockingBird91
@TequilaMockingBird91 2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, I 100% believe that Rob’s win was handed to him by producers, but not in the way that is portrayed here. I don’t think there was ever a “deal” or a “negotiation”. I think that they knew that Boston Rob is one of their Golden Gooses and so they’ve given Boston Rob a tribe of people who have a specific psychological profile that just so happens to be consistent with Rob’s preferred style of gameplay. In other words, they’ve gave Rob a tribe full of sheep who are either too scared / too mentally incompetent to think for themselves and see through Boston Rob’s scare tactics. Simultaneously, they gave Russell Hantz a tribe full of people who’s psychological profile is 100% incompatible with Russell’s style of game. That is, they’ve gave Russell a tribe full of people who they knew would be instantly skeptical and resistant of Russell. So with Boston Rob being on a tribe with zombies who worship his every move and another tribe who couldn’t care less who wins (so long as it isn’t Russell), it’s easy to see why Boston Rob won so solidly.

For the bottle one I think that it is possible that production could have swapped out the message inside or swapped out the bottle with an identical one when all the players were asleep and the cameras were off. Is it likely, no but it is possible there were "two bottles" just maybe not the way that one would think

I buy into the Mike theory with a twist. I believe production made it seem like Mike won to lots of people as to not spoil that Mike didn’t win after hearing about Mike’s weed pills and he would’ve been disqualified had he won

Not a conspiracy theory but more of a “what if”. I remember reading an article about 10 years ago that stated that the producers had thrown around the idea of shooting a season away from the tropical islands and instead being in a snowy coastal area to put a spin on the survival element. One team’s shelter would’ve been a small cabin and the other’s an abandoned lighthouse. I imagine that it would’ve severely limited the challenges but I’ve always thought that it would have been a unique spin on things. Anyone else ever heard this story?

This is only half true because Jeff has spoken about it. Jeff said, a Swedish show similiar to Survivor, tried this and it made for terrible television. It was basically impossible to strategise when they were all forced into a small shelter. They had toyed with the idea but doing research revealed it would've made for a really boring season.

I never even noticed the connection between Rob’s, Coach’s, Tyler’s, and Cochran’s wins. 😮😮 holy crap!!!

What about the theory about Sarita hurting her teeth and wanting to quit but producers convinced her to stay for a bit longer to "build" a blindside?
