Hi welcome to to travel day The Long Journey From Hat Yai To Georgetown Penang Island Malaysia Train Ferry Bus. Today's the day i leave the land of smiles for Malaysia. I leave Hat Yai in the south of Thailand by 3rd class train down to the border Padang Besar.
From Padang Besar i join the Malaysian Transport system on another train to Butterworth, where you can jump straight on the ferry to Georgetown on Penang Island. It was a long journey but extremely cheap and worth it as Georgetown looks great.
I really hope you enjoy the The Long Journey From Hat Yai To Georgetown Penang Island Malaysia Train Ferry Bus. If so please Like, Subscribe and Share with anyone you think might be interested in my content. Thank You.

Hello Richy, new subscriber here. Georgetown, Malaysia is one of my favourite cities in SEA. I recommend you to explore Little India and try the amazing food there. Walk around the city, specially in the world heritage area. Georgetown is known for its food diversity or food paradise :) You've got all of it there, Malay food, Chinese food, Indian food. You've got nice guesthouses and hotels with beautiful architecture. Mosques, Indian temples, Chinese temples. It's like you're visiting 3 countries at once. Take care.

Hi Rich, they have had problems in Had Yai for a few years, the UK government travel website advises against all but essential travel to there, your insurance could be effected should you have any problems which i am sure you will not. I enjoyed Georgetown when i was last there, Penang Hill was great for views but pretty touristy. The foods where nice as well, enjoy mate, cheers.

Penang is the place where they'll send out durian seeds and seedlings... Can they plant the fresh cuttings like you can with figs? I'm envying you getting fresh durians but I wonder if there's a season when they're best. Happy trails Richy. 🌲😎🌲

Penang Georgetown has a 10am street market durian truck near where Chulia St meets Love Ln. I guess that fresh durians show up maybe by May - so frozen ones might get thawed for you at other times? There's a map of farms but actual farm stays might just be starting seedlings now. How much cost to stay there, and meals may be a mystery. Why it takes 10 dry days for flowers to get pollinated? But the tours are in June and July for $450usd plus another huge amt for lodging/meals. There's gotta be another way that doesn’t set you back 1500 smackeroos. I'm surprised that there's an app at yearofthedurian. Can you rent a tuktuk like people do in Sri Lanka? What a way to beat the rain.

@@keangwooichoo6138 in the US we might bury grape cuttings upside down through the whole winter season, after which they have started to grow new roots at the nodes and also they will show sign of starting to sprout new leaves, etc. - So, when I get to Malaysia in some future February - should I bury the durian tree cuttings in regular soil for a while - or, 2. maybe wrap the exposed top tips with grafting tape or polyethylene cling wrap just to keep the tips from drying out.... I still feel like I've got to visit the actual farms where they're growing durian and see what should happen. Somehow - there's where the camera or phone will be able to take some good videos of 'how-to' and help show me how to get more durian trees established somewhere good for growing on. I love durian fruit but I think that I will need a few YEARS growth before they will bear any fruit, correct? 💚🌲😎🌲 Thanks for any relevant video link url's. ☆

That's odd with the Hostel host not being there to even collect your money. That's really messed the day up with planning. How many people would just skip town?! Good for you, mate for sticking there to wait. With Thailand being reasonably safe and happy, I would feel odd about the security and police presence too. I don't know how you found that restaurant 15 minutes from the station. It didn't look like anything from the street 😅 glad it was delicious. Two Pedang Besar stations? That's confusing for people. Is the town that big, or is it the end of the line before the border? You do so well navigating your way through all these stations, platforms, and hotels! Winging it turned out OK. Good to find Dag, for an English speaking guide.

Thanks Greg, it was a pain in the arse with the hostel mate. I’ve since found out there is civil unrest at the minute hence the big police presence, it was rather daunting compared to the rest of Thailand. I do research on how to do things other wise Padang Besar would have being a nightmare. There is about 10 mins on the train between them. One is in Thailand the other Malaysia, very strange. It was great meeting Dag he was a lovely guy.

Hi Richy mate, have you got any experience of using a Wise card for transferring money in different currencies rather than carrying cash, I have got one but haven't used it yet abroad, you don't get charged by Wise for using Atms abroad & it's good for over 50 currencies.

use starling it’s better than wise as with wise you have to convert the currency yourself and there is a fee, starling does it for you not matter what country your in, but avoid using ATMS as the banks will always change you in the country your in take cash also and change up
