Not enough comments praising this intro for how it was shot in one take. It shows incredible coordination of everyone on set and is exceptionally impressive camera work.

Because it’s not that impressive. It’s not hard to act like you are at the circus. There’s entire movies and scenes way longer than this that are basically one take and in settings way more difficult than a fair/circus where all you have to do as an extra is stand there and not completely fuck it up.

It's a nice thought, but I seriously doubt the director had this scene as a deep metaphor. This is an introduction to the character. If it was a metaphor as you suggest, we would get some sort of hint of the life of his father. We are only introduced to his son in the last quarter of the film, and his son only begins the "cycle" at the end of the film.

I saw an analysis video that stated that the two daredevils following each other is an analogy to justice trailing behind Ryan Gosling, and the third daredevil going in perpendicular to them is referencing Ryan's son, with their paths never intersecting but having his dad's presence felt.

Not awake enough to remember all of them, but mostly I’m into drag bikes these days. It was top fuel car drags when I was a kid, but lately I’m more into motorcycles.

The first other person you see in the orange shirt when Ryan walks out is my uncle Joel. He was working at the Altamont fair in 2011. he was 24 years when he passed in 2015, due to opioid addiction. he was the coolest man I ever knew and we all were so excited when we found out he was in the Final Cut of the movie. RIP Joel, RIP Adam my other uncle and Joel’s brother🕊️ Both legends ,like this scene. F*ck opoids I know the same struggle myself. Love y’all forever
