TRIGGER WARNING - in this video I talk about self-harm in this video
I have not self-harmed for three months which is the longest I’ve ever gone without hurting myself. Join me on another dog walk where I share my experience of self-harm and how I’ve managed to be self-harm free. Please share with me your experience of self-harm and why you think we need to be talking about it - only if you feel comfortable of course.
Apologies for the sound quality in this video - it was a bit windy so you may have to turn the volume up - sorry x
Don’t forget to tell me how your week has been.
Thank you for taking the time to watch this - I hope to see you next time.
Please subscribe to my channel for more videos about mental illness and leave any questions or comments you may have in the space below.
Take care and I hope you have a safe, peaceful week.
Gem

The Little Blue Pot
Welcome to my KZbin channel where I’m hoping to educate people on the different types of mental disorders to provide an understanding and learn ways to cope. I also vlog about my own experience of living with mental illness, as well as sharing other aspects of my life. I want to raise awareness of mental illness and how to have better mental health, so I hope my channel helps you and others.
I am not a qualified mental health professional or expert, but I am an expert in living with mental illness. All my videos are based on lots of research and I do my best to explain everything as clearly as possible and provide examples from my life to help you understand. I might not get it right every time, but I do the best I can. I hope the findings from my research are of benefit to you.
This Vlog is from my perspective, but I do appreciate that not everyone will have had the same experience as myself - we are all different after all, even if we have the same diagnosis. I have also tried, where applicable, to reference everything correctly, but we are all human and make mistakes - please stick with me.

First let me say, it's absolutely beautiful where you are, I loved it because I'm depressed today and in bed but just seeing nature and your words of inspiration have already helped me a great deal💖 Congratulations on your 3 months!! Your video was very informative and kind and I know it will help many people and give them hope. I hope this mechanism of coping will be less stigmatized and people will be more open about it. I have a history too but I dont want to trigger you, ❤ I will say it's been 4 years of recovery, I only have thoughts but somehow I dont act on them. Therapy and meds definitely helped that portion of my depression. After a month of feeling stable my depression is back, like always it seems meds and therapy help and then I crash. I'm particularly sad because this was my first try at a non SSRI, it's a mood stabilizer. I thought finally this is the one.. Do you find this happens with you or anyone you know? And maybe you could give advice on hygiene during severe depression..because no one wants to really discuss it. But I cant bring myself to shower and I'd like to know what your thoughts are on that subject if it's not too personal. There are days the depression has me so sad and tired I dont have the will to care for myself. Thank you very much for your beautiful video it helped so much. Hugs from the States!!❤❤🤗🤗

Hi Elisa, congratulations on four years! Not triggering at all, it gives me hope as I'm sure it will others. Thanks for sharing your story and I agree, it needs to be less stigmatised. People think if they don't talk about it, it will go away. This only makes it harder for those going through it to get help. As for personal hygiene and depression, I agree with Sally (thanks Sally) it would be a great idea for a video. Also, just so you know, I have not showered today. I always floss and brush my teeth without fail, but everything else, I don't care. You are not alone my friend in the states. I totally get you about the crash, I have gone through the same cycle. Good luck with the mood stabilisers, let me know how you get on. Sending hugs back from the UK. Xx

Hi Donna, thanks for being so open about your self-harm, I know how hard it is to stop, it can be addictive. Depression just makes everything seem bad and makes us feel terrible. I'm hugging you tight. Take care and be safe. Love and hugs xx
