Hello my loves! And welcome to a new video!
It took me a lot of time to create this video since I've been very stuck in my struggles with this special season between winter and spring. In this video I hope to give you a realistic view of the life in the end of the winter here in the north of Sweden, with both the beauty and the hardships.
I hope you will enjoy it! Thank you for watching this video! ♥

Honestly I think you should write a book about your life in the north. You have this unique way of narration that just transcends every imagination I can fathom. Your careful choice of words and imaginative articulation are so beautifully crafted and worded. I listen to your narrations, and they just bring this soothing inner peace. An audio book with these narrations will be great. Thank you, Jonna, for your videos.

There's a joke here in Minnesota, where many Swedes emigrated to in the 1800's, that the Swedes landed in New York and then kept going west until they found a place where the weather was as miserable as it was back home.

Ha! This is so true. My family immigrated to the US through Chicago and New York back in 1875 and gradually moved their way to Truckee California lol. It's interesting how swedes are naturally attracted to the forest. I'm living in the city now and so badly want to move back to the forest. It's like a deep connection that's really hard to explain it's almost like the forest calls to you.

My maternal grandmothers second husband was a quiet, slow-moving, methodical Quaker man. As a youth, many years ago now (I am 75 now), his slow ways frustrated me to distraction and impatience, and it was all summed up in his often repeated aphorism about life ... "keep walking". However, as the many years have gone by that expression has become ingrained in my own outlook, Jonna ... as I have seen that the circumstances of my life could be experienced most comfortably, often, by applying that principle ... keep walking. This has been true for me because of similarities to your experience of the slow unfolding and passing of the discomforts of winter. Winter's blues, and the circumstances to which I refer in my own experience, can sometimes be best managed by simply letting go all pretense of control and flowing with the reality of the time. We humans seem to have such a tendency to believe in our ability to craft and to control life, which is not nearly always possible. My suggestion to all your audience is to keep walking when control is not possible and to allow life to simply unfold, with trust and personal faith in the idea that it is a benevolent process, even through all it's ups and downs, it's joys and sorrows. Many blessings of flow to both you and Johan, and to all your followers, as the days and weeks flow past. Much love to you both ... and to all.

I appreciate this so much, Patrick, finding myself in early old age and feeling rather lost about the future, unable to see it in a good light.. your wisdom is timely, the reminder I'm not in control, but to open to it's unfoldment in each moment.. I've said the same thing to many over the years only to lose sight of it myself recently. Thank you again.

@@jonnajinton Jonna, I hope you are taking Vitamin D3 as it is an extremely important vitamin which is made from the sun on your skin. It has many important functions in the body. This may sound a bit silly, but I love hugging trees in the winter. Just wrapping my arms around one, pressing my cheek to it, and just resting. I imagine all the roots below ground holding it up and, depending on the tree, the needles soaking in what little sun there is. (or, the buds waiting for the warmth to emerge) and... THANK YOU! Watching you drink hot chocolate on top of that mountain was a wonderful start to my day!

Jonna, you are NOT alone!!!! I live in the Canadian Prairie and we also have 7 months of winter. And March and April are SOOOOOO hard. For exactly the reasons you explored in this video. But no matter how difficult things get, your wisdom and deep and beautiful soul ALWAYS emerge, and ALWAYS reveal to you the path through which your heart must travel. You and Johan have one another, and your beautiful parents and animals. I have found in my life that the longer and deeper the struggle, the richer the gratitude when things finally shift for the better. The more beautiful life feels when we survive the worst, and get to the other side. Nothing tangible lasts forever.... including the harsh and sad. Wishing you continued optimism, forever dreaming, your spirit will return and so will the sun's warmth! I can already picture you looking back on this video in July, shaking your head and laughing, swatting mosquitoes in your sun-bathed skin.

We are pushing for record snowfall this year again. I totally understand the feeling of being starved for sunshine. Almost suffocated for the lack of warmth and color. While everyone else is celebrating spring I am still shoveling my driveway. The desire to curl into a ball and just hibernate until warmth returns is somehow strongest now and I could just hug a flower if I could find one for being so beautiful. I feel like stopping and thanking and encouraging every brave little green thing that is attempting to poke its way out of the ground of which I have seen 2 so far. 😂 You are not alone and spring will come for us eventually.❤ - A sister in the north

I’ve lived in places with cold winters my entire life thus far and every winter I feel so empty inside.. the bitter cold is miserable and the constant snowfall feels never ending. A lot of people around me prefer the cooler temperatures and as a result I often feel out of place. I’m hoping to move somewhere warmer this year. The winter can be so beautiful and I know I’ll find myself missing that, but it lasts far too long for me. 7-8 months of winter and 4 months of nice weather is not the ratio I am looking for. I live in US (New England), and for me, I feel what you described during our Spring March-April). The in-between, constant weather change from warm to cold in one week, leaves me feeling uneasy and somehow “angst”. It’s so nice to remember that although we are all living different lives, there’s always a way to emotionally connect💖 Love your beautiful videos.

We live in Canada and we experience the same type of winters. This one looked like it would end very early. Then we got a two foot snowstorm. I was so disappointed, even though I do like winter. What pulled me out was I just decided that I was going to just start preparing as if spring was here. I started cleaning everything in sight. And what do you know, a couple of weeks went by. And now we are officially in the end of winter and into very early spring. I found this helped and the river I live on has opened up just as it always does on these dates. Still snow in the woods, but that will be gone soon. Spring will come for you as it always does, my Dear. When it does, I hope you feel that old lively self again, and you will. Have faith you haven’t lost yourself.

There's been times in my life I've felt "dead". Especially, when my son, my "sun" died two years ago. One chapter in life ends, and then another begins. Sometimes we have to travel through the dark, not knowing when the sun will appear again but eventually it does! We have to be patient and hold on for another day. Thank you for your heart felt videos sharing the ups and downs of life we all experience and sharing the hope and beauty that remains all around us. I pray for you and all of humanity. 🙏❤😇

I used to live in northern Alberta in Canada and I too used to find myself dragging along in those last two months of winter bleakness. I also used to suffer with migraines from that late winter / early spring glare. I agree with you that six months of winter is too much, even though you enjoy those first months and mid winter is so magical but yeah the last stretch can be such hard work. I moved to England several years ago and initially found such relief in the mild, balmy and ‘green all year round’ climate here. BUT with the total lack of snow (apart from a couple of wet flurries that melt in minutes), I have come to dearly miss those big fluffy snowflakes and that crisp cold winter air that feels so purifying. One reason why I love watching your videos is I get to hear the familiar squeaky crunch crunch of packed snow under foot. Oh and the Northern Lights oh my god I miss those!! Sending you a virtual hug and big thank you Jonna for all of your beautiful & relatable videos.

Jonna, we don’t know each other. But when I watch the videos you create with Johan, it gives me a “sense” of knowing you even if just a little portion of your lives, if that makes sense. Not only because your creations are beautiful but also because your sincerity comes through. It feels painful to hear your despair, and I totally understand the effects of winter on a person after many months without the warmth of the sun. I wish you and Johan well. I hope May comes quickly and that your spirits lift soon - best wishes from Canada.

Dear Jonna, I love your honesty. A lot of people struggle without the sun. It is called SAD Syndrome - Seasonal Adjustment Disorder. A very real thing. You may find light therapy really helpful as it mimics the suns rays and releases endorphins. Or you could move to Australia 😀 we would love to have you. We have so much beautiful sunshine and all four seasons are spectacular. We are currently in Autumn and the colours on the trees are sublime ❤. Hoping there is somewhere close to where you live that does light therapy and also hoping the snow disappears as soon as possible! Sending love, light and hugs, Francesca ❤❤❤

That said, I think what you’re feeling is something deeper & you just don’t notice it when there are distractions. Not my style to do this but here it goes… you need to breed & build a family with your man. Children, bloodline, folk, something bigger than you! It’s life changing & eye opening.
