As others have said this film is a remake, but with a different comedic style/twist. Burt Reynolds eas the main character in the original movie so that is a nice nod to have him in this one as well. Also before moving to Hollywood to become and actor, Burt Reynolds actually played college football at Florida State University, which is mentioned in the film as where Crew played. this is a fun movie with a good cast. thanks for letting us watch it with you. take Care Emma!

I very much enjoyed this movie and your reaction's to this movies. Yes there are Pro wrestlers and football players Such as Sone Cold Steve Austin , Kevin Nash who play on the Guards during the football game, then you have the Great Khali who was a inmate playing ping pong by himself also Bill Goldberg, and for the Football players were Brian Bosworth, Michael Irvin of the Dallas Cowboys, and a few T.V sports casters from ESPN .

It is superior to this film and stars a young Burt Reynolds (Smokey and the Bandit) who actually co-stars in this film as Coach Nate Scarborough. Hi Emma... if you liked this movie i think you would like Escape to Victory (1981) The film is about Allied prisoners of war who are interned in a German prison camp during the Second World War who play an exhibition match of football against a German team. it stars Sylvester Stallone and real footballers like Pele, Bobby Moore, Osvaldo Ardiles and Hallvar Thoresen.
