Yes I’m looking forward to Nosferatu. I like Robert Eggers and even like the OG 1922 Nosferatu silent film. The creepiest portrayal of Dracula (Orlok) ever in my opinion. Should be a good match. There have been some good horror films this year. Loved Strange Darling recently.
@sblagg527Күн бұрын
@@kirkwarburton2277 You consider Strange Darling to be a horror film?? Or was that just a non sequitur?
@kirkwarburton2277Күн бұрын
Being more accurate, I’d say it’s a psychological thriller with serial killer violent elements and disturbing scenes. So it can be argued that it has some horror elements. However, if you watch a lot of horror KZbinrs, they are covering it as a horror film and it does tend to be categorised with other horror films - in ‘best horror films of the year’ lists and suchlike. So, although it isn’t a pure horror film, I have fallen into lumping it in with that slightly ill defined category. These debates have been had before about Seven and Silence of the Lambs etc.. - which are also psychological thrillers with horror elements that are beloved by horror fans and often categorised as horror. So it may be not be 100% technically correct but I think you know what I’m getting at!

It's too bad that they wasted the talent of Kenji Kamiyama & his anime team for such mediocre writing from the Western side of the production. And they rushed the production schedule just to retain the LOTR rights to the point where Kamiyama couldn't do much with it. I bet the 30 millions budget went mostly to the voice actors. If provided enough time & resources, Kamiya could've given us a LOTR anime that looks even better than *Attack on Titan* which is already a high bar. Also, like you said, why did they use anime to animate a mostly "grounded" story about man's war? And the war itself is not that big in the first place. Anime allows you to go beyond. They could've used anime to tell the crazier stuffs in the Silmarilion and it'd be fantastic as long as they're committed to it.

That's the reason why I'm annoyed at the shills since they use him and his team as a scapegoat rather point to WB, Boyens and the marketing.

it's every generic fantasy anime movie ever made. Rotten tomatoes has it at 49 percent for reviewers and 84 percent for the public with the movie objectively under performing in terms of money made, my opinion is that knew this movie was coming out for a few months and the trailer and the movie feels like a really well made fan anime posted to KZbin Idk know why this got a theater release, fr 90 percent of theater movies released in 2024 bombed in terms of money and dreading all the movies coming out next year. 4/10 movie for me I don't mind a strong female hero, I do like them, Hera is just a bland character and all of the male characters are just as bland if not worse The trailer for this film looks fake!! It's budget of 30m is way too low

I have doubts about the 2 1/2 hours of footage rumor. It's unusual to have extensive cuts to an animated film, most cut scenes wouldn't make it to completed animation. And perhaps there should have been less focus on Hera and more put on both Helm and his nephew Frealaf. All three should have been leads in the film, but Hera is still necessary as a viewpoint character, especially during the siege of the Hornburg before Frealaf re-enters the story. Still, for all the film's flaws, there's a lot it got right, and some of the changes and additions did help it work cinematically.

Hi Adam. Your comment about boy bosses really gave me pause. It seems so obvious yet I never thought of the trope in that light before. A dozen boy boss characters occurred to me with a moment's thought, but the one character that immediately jumped to mind was James Bond. Is there any chance you could do a video expanding on the boy boss idea? Why have the boy bosses been so popular through the decades and the girl bosses get nothing but ridicule, especially lately?

Go through the Victoria Cross and Medal of Honor lists and read the stories there are some mind boggling men alive today and through history. I get the feeling there is about it, there have been several films made just to make fun of boy boss's These things are not the same though Tolkien went to war and saw first hand. The way movies and shows are made today you would think Joan of Arc was just a random housewife not worthy of recognition. I feel you take away from women like her when you don't emphasize how special and rare they were throughout history. Just my opinion Saint

Freca wasn't a king, he was just a wealthy nobleman who had gotten a little to arrogant doing what he wanted on his lands on the Isen river. 6/10 for the quality of the movie on its own. 4/10 for being a poor adaption of the actual story. The excuse for her not having a name in Rohan's history....is very stupid. Even with the reasoning that she never cared about ruling, what legitimate excuse is there that her own nation would forget her accomplishments and give them to someone else. She did selfishly decides to abandon her country when it took generations for it to recover...which is probably why they rewrote that part of Rohan's history. Done as an act of revenge for her running away from helping with the recovery. Not like I don't think the movie could have worked with her as the POV, since she could have played a small part, but they made everything big happen evolve around her...when she was a unnamed one sentence character, which Tolkien made clear was an insignificant character. Helm didn't punch Freca for proposing marriage, it was because Freca threatened him the music and voice acting was great, the writing and the unnecessary length of the film wasn't.

Two of three riters credited have worked on a tv series and one full length movie together. The movie got a 6.2 on IMDB. The third writer has one movie which has no storyline, no reviews and no score on IMDB. When you have a beloved IP you go to the A team to produce a huge success. Warner Bros clearly had other plans.

It’s going to be hard to follow the original trilogy for the average viewer when it was possibly the greatest trilogy ever. Tolkien would have to come up with a continuation story that is equally as epic and then somehow movies would have to be made to equal the magic. Probably an impossible order to fill.

Hey bro. You make some good points but do some damn research before you criticize a Middle Earth movie. For instance, Hera is not mentioned anywhere in Tolkien's legendarium. Helm's daughter is mentioned in one line in the appendices without a name. There are many great stories in the appendices. Even this one. But not as it's told here. That being said some of your takes are moronic. So if I had a recommend you as a middle-earth commentator I'd give you 4.5 out of 10. The appendices aren't that long and the story is very short. Do some homework next time.

Hey broseph. This is a MOVIE CHANNEL. Not a Tolkien channel. I made it very clear I'm not familiar with the books. I was upfront about that. Yet, you took the time to insult regardless. There are thousands of channels that know the ins and outs of his material. I cover a lot of movie content every single week and have already moved on from this waste of a film. That said, even if I was familiar with the source material, the movie still is it's own thing and I review it as such. I don't care if it focuses on a brand new character. What I care about is if it's interesting, engaging and entertaining. Take your own advice and look at the channel next time before leaving your obnoxious comment.
