Ho fuck yes. This is on my most underrated movies of all time list. I absolutely adore the practical and special effects in this film, as someone who was born much after the film was made. Now When Big Trouble In Little China? Edit: And I'm just remembering Galaxy Quest was the last thing on the channel toooooo.... Decembers been good eatin'!

So one of my best school memories ever was in the 6th grade. I was a terrible student, always daydreaming about adventure... Then one day my teacher wheels in an old-style TV on a cart and we got to watch, The Last Starfighter." Right there at school! Best day ever.. This movie will always be a favorite of mine regardless of time passing cheesiness.

Every time I read about rebooting this movie I always think they should spend real money on just redoing the cgi for modern audiences and carefully insert them in the movie that already exists. The live action is just perfect and the aliens still look perfect as well. Just the special effects, keep the rest. Release it. Perfect script. Perfect cast.

A childhood favorite. Also the main theme was an absolute classic: 30+ years later having not seen and listening again it sounded exactly as I remembered it.

His name is Dan O'Herlihy. His son was John "Gavin" O'Herlihy, best known as the bad guy in Death Wish 3, and as Val Kilmer's buddy in Willow. I wonder if they did that on purpose or Mike/Jay honestly got father and son confused.

For a really long time, since my childhood, I had my memories completely mixed up between The Last Starfighter, Flight of the Navigator, Explorers and Enemy Mine. I had the most crazy, fucked up movie in my mind for like a decade and a half until I reunited with these movies once again. They are all great.
@Viceroy_Sundercles_III10 сағат бұрын
I had a similar problem where I conflated Jason and the Argonauts with Army of Darkness. I thought they were the same movie because I must’ve watched them back to back on the same day when I was very, very young. It wasn’t until I found RLM and that got me to rewatch Army of Darkness that I realized they were separate movies.

British friends have talked about the 'porn bush' and when I learned they were talking about shrubbery in the park, it struck me that this seemed to be a UK-wide phenomenon. Now I hear it was common in North America, too? I must have grown up far too rural for the random finds (not that I didn't see a ton of nude pics posted to the walls of many garages back then).

Anytime someone asks "what do we do now?", I'm compelled to say "we die", usually to my detriment due to folks not getting the reference. I choose to win that battle by just thinking it and laughing. But now, I'm just drawing attention to myself as a crazy person laughing for no apparent reason.
@karl_alan10 сағат бұрын
Omg. Thank you for writing this. Truly relatable being stuck between, "do I say the odd specific reference and seem weird, or do I not say it and se weird because I laughed?" This story made my morning.

@@jd-tg1oxwhether or not we watch the reboots, they will still exist. For future generations to misappropriate and confuse for the originals. Or have to annex the year of release to.... "Batman 89....Star Wars 77.... Tron 82.... Nosferatu 21...." 😖
