The Man With the Axe is the opposite of Liability. She's no longer feeling like a burden, she isn't dancing by herself anymore, she is a different person and she's at peace, happy, with a person who loves her. It's so cute once you realize the parallelism on the first verses.

This album gave me life and energy! Lorde just doesn’t disappoint. If people are comparing this album to melodrama they’re just setting themselves up for failure because it’s literally like night and day.

Mood Ring for me was a clear "If I wanted to do a bop filled album I would and I could but I chose not" I feel like the album is for an especific mood and state of mind, I absolutely loved it

Pure Heroine: Theme Melodrama: Production Solar Power: Lyrics Honestly SP lyrics hits different
@gabrielribeiro73062 жыл бұрын
YES! In my opinion solar power is the best album by Lorde when it comes to Lyrics, I love how mature and happy she is now. An amazing album.

I don't see it cause on SP the lyrics are so repetitive, Fallen Fruit (albeit a good song) is 4 min long and have 2 verses and no bridge, I feel like she relies way too much on repetitions on SP

Leader of a New Regime is so underrated, I'm glad you appreciated the power that it holds. It ties perfectly with the end of Oceanic Feeling, the idea of her leaving the crown to the new girls. "Can somebody, anybody, be the leader of the new regime?". "Take of my robes and step into the choir". It's funny also, thinking Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo were part of her "choir" and she's trying to gave up her place for somebody else.
@TECfan12 жыл бұрын
My idea for what she meant by the "I'm taking off my robe and stepping into the choir." at the end is that Lorde doesn't want to be famous anymore. She stepping in to a crowd and becoming a face in it. She doesn't care about making radio hits anymore and instead wants to make true art and poetry, whatever she wants to.

This is 2 years later but I think oceanic feeling is also an allusion to the Buddhist metaphor of the wave. Each wave is a different life/individual, but ultimately, it’s inseparable from the ocean itself. When she reaches enlightenment, she’ll know it’s time to pass the torch and let her wave crash back into the ocean. Like you said, she’s rode the highs of fame and had her time in the spotlight. Almost every song on the album holds the theme of cycles and that metaphor of the ocean is the perfect way to close it

It’s so Magical and Sounds Sophisticated, it’s like i’m walking in a museum and everything has its own story and feeling…. And the 60’s with the early 2000’s track and of course her poetic lyricism, So Unique, A Masterpiece that i never heard or my soul is finding for this whole life. Thank you Lorde for making my life meditated. ☀️💛

mood ring sounds like such a spiritual wellness, happy girl embracing song but the song is actually poking fun at wellness culture. to me the whole song feels like from the pov of a girl whos pretending to have her life together by doing all this spiritual stuff when in reality its just a mask to hide her sadness. last part "take me to some kind of place anywhere" feels like from the perspective of a desperate person trying to get out of whatever situation theyre in. she talks about it in a genius interview on youtube

I'm fairly certain it's Lawrence Arabia and Marlon Williams from New Zealand actually - she performed a song with him at his concert in Auckland a few months back - and also they sang a duet in Christchurch to support the victims and city after the Australian gunman massacred all those people in two mosque's. Jack isn't credited for any vocals that I've found yet, the only other vocalists are Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo, because Lorde has used other female voices instead of layering her own this time - which is very much in keeping with '60's and '70's production styles.
