One of the most unforgettable moments for me, is on Halo 3 where you raid the Citadel, where The Prophet of Truth is in, and those two Scarabs fall out of the sky and you have to take them on using the Hornet or you can stick to the Scorpion tank

yoo i remember my first time doing that mission i just landed my hornet on the scarab but i fell off after destroying the core so my hornet blew up and i just stood there like "what the fuck do i do to kill the other scarab" and i just started shooting the other scarab's legs with my BR and shotgun until an absolute homie of a marine showed up in a hog and helped make take down the scarab, my first playthrough of that section definitely took longer than most people

The type 29 can move around when complete, as you can see a leg already half built and leg sockets in the halo wars mission. The lore also doesnt state the scarab is completely immobile, only that it has to be built on planet due to the delicate components and the huge size of it making it unable to be dropped from ships. In the halo wars mission it does say the scarab is incomplete

The type-47-B Dutoros Scarab was used in the invasion of Reach, as we see in the game. When I actually thought about it, I wondered why it was there instead of the one from Halo 2 because Reach takes place even before Halo: CE. I believe the scarab from halo 2 doesn't use lekgolo worms to pilot it, my reasons for this being that it is classified as a artifact retrieval unit like you said, and artifact retrieval is a delicate process so crews of elites are used instead because they are more careful, I know I'd trust a crew of elites more to retrieve an artifact more than I would a more feral type of lekgolo.

The super scarb from halo wars was being built, it seems like the energy nodes and fixed mobility is more for building and powering the half constructed scarb as it wasnt complete and didnt have its own internal power yet

Really love how the Covenant converted an artifact excavator and a motorized farming chopping implement (the Brute Chopper during first contact on Harvest) into fearmongering and highly destructive weapons of war.

I think that the Halo Wars Super scarab is the one from the Halo Wars 2007 E3 demo, and if it's not, it was meant to be for sure. You can see a few similar features including the U shape above the neck, the legs also look similar, the top portion being thin, and a thicker at the bottom. There also appears to be an AA turret on top similar to Halo 2's scarab. The E3 demo one also only had a gun in the front, but not the back.

I'm pretty sure Regret was using The Protoss because he was using everything in his arsenal during the battle of New mombasa. Ironically enough, Regret was considered one of the more competent Prophets, He spent a lot of Time with the Sangheili and developed a good respect for them. He'd spent a lot of his (relatively short) life in military roles. That's part of the reason Truth didn't actually send anyone to assist Regret when Master chief was attempting to assassinate him, He saw Regret as a potential threat to his plans. Regret is honestly an underrated character.

I think the reason why the scarab was in new Mombasa was to uncover the artifact they were looking for there, as they mention the covenant were looking for something there. And as we see in halo 3, for good reason.

He didnt talk bout how the banished scarab slowly kills its on leugolo worms. Im pretty sure somewhere in halo wars 2 lore it stated that the banished scarab weapons/ modifications were unstable to the point where it slowly killed the worms controlling it.

Vista with Project Cartographer installed does count. Their work has been phenomenal and until 343 adds reticule size options it will be the better way to play Halo 2.

Just a little tidbit about the Banished Scarab I think I recall from the phoenix logs. Apparently, the beam cannon is so unstable, it slowly kills the lekgolo operating the Scarab when used. However, Atriox decided that because of the improved effectiveness of the weapon, he wasn't going to do anything about this fault. Or inform the Banished Lekgolo about it...

Hidden, from a casual halo fans view, the banished scarab looks like a heavily retrofitted Protoss type, just get rid of the petals and close off the cockpit along with new legs and armor and bam! Banished scarab

One could argue that the Scarab in New Mombassa was there because when the Prophet originally made his way to Earth, he was there for the Forerunner artifact on site. So, he would have deployed the Scarab in order to begin excavating?

if you look at the core for the scarabs in halo 3. there are 4 tubes or hoses whatever you wanna call em that have a very cheap low quality worm looking graphic on em that i noticed long ago after learning the scarab is the lekgolo
