Does the area between the curve and dotted line mathematically significant.

It's the integral from 0 to 1 of x - f(x) where f(x) is the Lorenz curve. That divided by the area under the perfect inequality line (which is 1/2) is the Gini coefficient.

So Karen makes 100k per year, Danny makes 50k per year. Income disparity 50k. They both DOUBLE their salary. FANTASTIC right? But now the income disparity is 100k. So I guess that is bad right?
