perhaps the most influential console shooter of all time.

Indeed. Halo and others don't hold a candle to its influence

agreed, I'd say Halo took the foundation that GoldenEye built and made it mainstream

This reminds me of a cheat magazine that I had from the UK that had Bottles Revenge Mode listed as a cheat in Banjo Tooie, that also had a code for Star Wars Rogue Squadron where you could play as Luke Skywalker on foot, and even though this code didn't work when I tried it, for years I have been convinced that since Bottles Revenge Mode turned out to be real, that some day Luke on foot would be found in Rogue Squadron.... still waiting for that day. Anyway, cool video as always!
@SorcererLance5 ай бұрын
Sounds like that magazine predicted what you can eventually do in Rebel Strike, which was the third game of the Rogue Squadron series. However, you reminded me Rogue Squadron DID have a super secret vehicle nobody knew was in the game until after Episode 1 was out in theaters... Revealing the yellow Naboo Starfighter was waiting in the game's code all that time and nobody discovered it beforehand

I confess that I’ve never played Goldeneye 64, but I would love a game that let you play as all the Bonds. Brosnan is great and all, but having Connery and Moore would be even better. I wouldn’t bother with Lazenby personally.

Yeah Rare said it back then too. They didn't have the rights to use all the Bonds so it got removed after one last round of multiplayer.

All 5 Lazenby fans? Are you serious? There is ALOT of people, me included, who consider On Her Majesty's Secret Service the BEST of all bond movies ever made
@joshslater24264 ай бұрын
And to this day I’ll never understand why. Lazenby couldn’t act, and the film didn’t manage to make him very convincing. He lacks the confidence and commitment other Bonds had, and he plays up the insecurities way too much.

I think you missed, as part of its remains in final release, the origin of the name "All Bonds". A gameshark or hex editor can unlock a deleted item on the Cheats menu called "All Bonds". This cheat does nothing when activated, not even unlocking their respective portraits in character selection, but is presumed to have once enabled character selection of the various Bonds.
@TheObsessiveGamer5 ай бұрын
Oh this was real? I kept hearing that it wasn't. Can I have that code actually? Would love to try it!
@WreckSeven4 ай бұрын
This is incorrect. There is no text of "All Bonds" anywhere in the final game. There is a button code to access additional characters in multiplayer, but they are mostly developers, friends / family of Rare staff, or other people who were around the Twycross buildings. But no cheat or button code left over refers in any way to this. I helped put together All Bonds patches for GoldenEye, and am project lead on GoldenEye X, so I am well versed on this subject.
@WreckSeven4 ай бұрын
The only other explanation could be that a GameShark code modified the text of another cheat. This would have been done by the code creator, and not something left in by Rareware.
@jeffreyforsberg51444 ай бұрын
@@WreckSeven Yes, I'm aware of the extra characters button code, but that's largely unrelated to what I'm talking about. I haven't messed with any of this in years, but in checking to see what codes I still have in my GS, I have a code that unlocks a cheat menu option called "64 Chars", and THAT I believe is the cheat menu equivalent to the button code for extra chars. As far as All Bonds goes, I don't seem to have any "useless" codes saved to my GS anymore, but I'm sure I had a GS code that did this. Certainly, I don't doubt you though, and perhaps it was a "hoax" code intended to dangle the carrot by injecting the text through the code itself. Again, I must say that I DO remember this, and I remember it because it did nothing and was merely a cosmetic addition to the cheat menu. I do still have a stack of late 90s GS codes printed out on paper which I'll be going through, as I find the time, to see if I can locate anything further. While I have your attention, I'd like to pick your brain about GS codes which add "[No Name]" cheats to the cheat menu. Are such cheats actual cheats that were removed from the menu in the final game code, or are they a matter of GS code makers forcibly associating cheat menu line items with the effects of their GS codes? The so-called "Predator Mode" code comes to mind as an example of what I'm talking about.
