I agree. The problem with MMOs is they push people too hard to stay on the threadmill. Nobody is playing for fun, nobody is playing to help others - people are playing to clear shit fast and stay ahead of the curve. This kills the games, because newer players are expected to play like a veteran and they quit the game.

I mean thats a plus of final fantasy xiv but also a problem cause people take breaks for 1-2 months and come back all the time, I'm one xD so my group is always half empty and its only full after big updates but people come back and play cause they like it and not cause of a checklist to do or you miss like a lot of games ,I really dk what a burnout is or missing is I mean I did eureka an old ass content with my friends like 3 weeks ago and its 5 years old and there were a lot of randoms around that joined the group grew to like 50-100 I think the big problem with modern online games is they ask for all your time not just some but all of it this includes your work time cause the best way to play it is basically burning money or make the game your work playing like its your shift xD which defeat the point of playing

This is actually why FFXIV is so successful. There's a space for just being a casual and the dev team is thoughtful in incorporating casual stuff to do. I usually have periods where I tryhard and then chill and do casual shit with my guild, play msq, and then rinse and repeat. It's so amazing.

I remember some 15+ years ago I was playing Lineage 2 and had an awesome fun siege where we lost big time but it was just so funny because our guild leader went crazy, literally, with hysterics. He was trying to summon a siege machine and for some background - there were many of those in game at the time, and it required a long ass cast from the guild leader and he needed to not be interrupted... in the middle of fighting. So you can imagine all that night we tried to protect him for a sliver of a chance to do anything at all at that siege, maybe break a wall at some point. After countless wipes and failures, last 5 minutes or so of the siege the guild leader managed to summon the siege weapon (he had already lost his voice by that time). And it was not just the wrong siege weapon, it was a black hole in our pockets too, it was a giant pig shaped very low power niche thing that nobody knew what it was used for either, but it was massive, half the size of the darn castle. The entire server had breathing issues from laughing too hard, we were crying on ventrilo, except the leader he quit the game or eprhaps just smashed in his computer at that time. I tried to explain this to my dad when he came to my room late at night to put me back on the right path, he was pissed it was late i hadnt slept and i was making noise too. I was in such a good mood and so amused by the whole thing, i told him the story and he just looked at me frowning and with disgust, he had not understoon anything at all, probably didnt know what a siege was either. I felt like crap and to this day i cringe at that memory xD

400 mokoko seeds killed the game for me. That and mount speed being barely above walk speed. The whole thing was a massive time sink that was about 1000x too grindy. The pay to advance mechanic revolted me.

50:37 This is why I've quit World of Tanks. Spend a year unlocking top tier tank to not be on bottom of the tier on a map and "poof" ammo cost makes playing top tier drain your resources. I did not invest my time to unlock best tank and become poor whenever I play it.

I was loving lost ark, 4 of us started playing eventually I was the last one to quit, I played with 200ms ping, I did the raid once and I felt so guilty wiping the team because I kept missing my mark according to the server and having to manage 2 to 3 characters every day to try keep my characters up with daily and weeklys was eating into my work. As the wizard said this game is stressful and the return felt as minimal as ow2 rewards but at least its quick and fun

I got 10+ characters 1370+, 3 of which are around 1470, 1500 hours as of a month ago. It came to the point of honing rates being 2-3% and materials+gold upgrades costing exponentially more with every ilvl, I stopped playing since I felt like Lost Ark became my 2nd full time job, having to log in everyday and game late at night to make sure I was staying on top of the curve. Now I'm just playing Clown raid once a week on my 1475 paladin, it's fun and all but I might stop doing that too as I've already gotten a full lvl 2 set Had lots of fun while my grind lasted, but I feel like I can do so many other things, play other games, read something, or do anything else that would have been instead taken by Lost Ark.

I took a 2.5 month break from lost ark, because I was tired of doin weeklies n dailies. I returned on the 16th because I always wanted yo play reaper since February launch. The long break I took made me no longer care about gutting every single weekly n daily thing done. I just do as much as I feel is fun then move on n maybe play something else or read. FOMO is no longer something I feel bc I dont want to get stressed like he did. Mindset is huge with these treadmill games. I've also seen 0 bots which is weird, but I'm expecting them to finally return soon.

Agree with you on Warhammer 40k. Maybe something like WoW mixed with PlanetSide but with other worlds and a pve campaign. I wish there was one like that for Starcraft. Pick a race and class then go through a story on multiple worlds and do stuff along the way. With 1st and 3rd person view. I could go on for hours talking about it.

I've been playing since release. I've missed probably 2 weeks of logins so far, probably 3 days of actual rewards. I've only ever played 1 character, 1480 GS, 5x3 artillerist. I used the passes but didn't bother playing more. These days, I still log in every day, but I probably only actually play 1 day a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. 9/10 times I just get stronghold, rapport, and login reward. I sometimes bus, sometimes play the dungeons. I enjoy the game because I only actually play when I feel like it. Otherwise I just treat it like OSRS, basically just a second monitor game that I passively build up in. I have 2 meta legendary engravings, legendary pet, 40m silver, 30k gold, 1m honor shards, don't struggle with anything. Funny thing is I've had a lot of people make fun of me for playing the game like this, but they've now quit. What kind of an idiot plays a video game more than they enjoy? Idk why so many people do that for this game. So many people say you NEED 6 characters. I genuinely don't get it. I'd be way further along if I had just 2 and I can already do all the content playing 1 very casually. Plus I'm not a sped NEET, I go to work and don't feel like spending every hour of free time I have playing 1 single game lol.

I had a guild and would help the guild leader a lot(I do best assisting the leader rather than being the leader). I quit because of the internet at my new job, I check the discord still sometimes and I noticed that the 8 best players had separated themselves into their own discord, the exact thing I stopped from happening when I was there and both groups had fallen apart now. It's sad, I never really had much connection to the people but it's disheartening to see a community of 50 people I can recognise the names of just fall apart.

On Ru and Kn there are Tripods reworked, now they not tied to armor and you can just pick upgrades if you have them, so you can reach high level Tripods and just switch on a run to other high level ones

Ever heard of sunk-cost fallacy? MMO's are specifically designed for you to invest your life. It's harder to quit a game when you've wasted thousands of hours, have friends on the game, have rare loot etc. Also the quality of an MMO can change rapidly between each patch, quitting an MMO isn't the same as quitting some single player game.

I always feel bad when people lose their game due to dev incompetence. LA could have increased the honing rate, doubled the dropped materials, and removed pheons. While just selling more skins at $10-15 bucks and made far more money. This is why I have no hope for Ashes of Creation. People don't want hardcore primary systems anymore. Just a fact of life and devs need to adapt.

I got back into LA recently and I'm having a good amount of fun. I first played on my hp laptop and the graphics were fine but the npcs and enemies were moving at 3 fps LOL, so I quit at i600 some months ago. Came back a couple weeks ago on my pc setup and got up to i1060 currently with Feiton being my favorite quest in the game. I'm f2p rn and I'm deathblade and having a lot of fun. I most likely will get burnt out though at some point cuz I'm also playing TOF (Just waiting for Lin) but for now, I just want to get stronger.

I feel like the problem with alts of most mmos take the system from FFXIV. if you do wanna do a alt that's a alt on different server cause every character can be every class. You'll already have access to all the dungeons, all the farm areas for x lv to x lv I have a character that's maxed out on almost all the classes and most of the crafting professions. I cant do that with any other mmo out side the crafting side but most mmo are heavy tax on trying to learn every crafting professions. GW2 eventually costs several gold after finishing 3 crafting classes than wanting to have certain ones cost gold to switch back etc etc

The only reason I play any game longer than a few hours--ever--is because I enjoy playing the game. If it becomes work in any way I drop it like a hot potato. I was hyped for Lost Ark until the first time I got to play it. I hated it from day one, even after having purchased the $25 package. I may go back and play more, but only because I told others that I'd give it until level 50. But I'm beginning to think I won't make good on that. I really don't like the game. If I want to play this type of game I already had a game that (at least in the way it plays in the beginning) is mostly the same thing that had been out for a few years: Webzen's MU Legend. I rarely play that either, but I do play it once in a while. I think that's because it doesn't have so many systems built into it to suck the cash out of your wallet. Again, why would I play something I don't enjoy playing? Why would I make a tedious job out of my free time that requires I spend money on it only to get nothing in return?

You do get like 9 days of offline rewards on ToF but they are randomized and some % less than what you would have gotten if you played every day. Skipping out on level cap increases will hurt as well. Also the multitude of daily/weekly menu button clicks. Not to mention the Mirroria race and Ultimate weapon event. We're also getting lvl 75 in a day or two. So yeah, classic mobile game play every day strat. I like these types of games. I quit Lost Ark because I got tired of doing the same things 6 times. Having only 1 character on ToF is much easier.

I've been playing Lost Ark from the start, but I just have 1 character. Never did any merching or anything, just logged in every day, missing only 2 weeks since launch. I don't say this to try and convince you to come back to the game, just that I see a lot of people say "have to play 6 chars" and you definitely don't have to. I'll admit I've been playing since the game launched, but I'm sure someone with even 2 or 3 chars could catch up to me in no time, and then could just chill. If you just don't enjoy the content/game anymore, it is what it is. Again, not saying you have to keep playing or like the game, just that idr see why everyone says you NEED 6 chars.

I had fun in LA while i played it. But i started 3 or 4 weeks late because of vacation. I remained the entirety of my playtime feeling like i was 3 or 4 weeks behind because my guildies had played on RU and were experienced, whilst i was learning. After next holiday I just uninstalled because I feel like i'll never catch up anyways, and being a tier behind in LA just feels like I'm not playing the game. It really shouldn't be that bad, I shouldn't need to have 6 alts to keep up with the curve. I should play 6 alts because I really want to, and have the spare time. Game was fun while it lasted but I don't feel particularly keen to return even if incredible content is released, because of the catch-up.

It’s like everyone expects a free bus/carry at every stage of the game. I have a bunch of alts around 1370 bc I was obsessed with the game when it came out and I had someone quit a fox yoho because of “low damage.” Like it would’ve maybe take 5 more minutes than usual to take him down because we were all on 1370 characters. I didn’t even know people still do fox yoho because it’s month old content but I almost uninstalled the game right there.

As some one who entered the game super late and is just now starting to learn Valtan and Vykas mechs, I really don't feel the pressure to keep up with 1: people who played way longer than me 2. whales who will always be ahead of me anyway. The only problem for me as a purely F2P is the ingame economy. It's simply not feasible to buy Crystals for Crystaline, Card slots, storage etc. Crystaline alone is 10k gold+ every month and the Crystal prices are still going up. And well.. Everyone agrees Pheons suck. Absolutely loving the raids tho

I quit Lost Ark right when clown released because the static group I was running HM Vykas and Valtan with all quit a week or two before and I didn't want to find another static because my build wasn't perfect enough to PUG and I didn't have the money/pheons to change it. I did get to 1492 ilvl on my gunslinger. The game was certainly fun for many months but after a while when you have to run 3 to 4 alts on everything every week it gets old. Also not to mention I only spent $130 total.

Lost ark is a bad game by design and now even the die hards are realizing it. The graphics and combat are great, but thats not enough to keep people playing a game. Especially an mmo, where the entire design is supposed to be around community. This game is anti-community while simultaneously forcing community play to legion raid. It makes literally no sense and causes tremendous toxicity among the people playing. Glad to see everyone abandoning ship finally. Maybe theyll learn to make a game that actually lets friends play with each other in the future

the thing about solo pvp.... a lot of people hate league. A lot of people want combat in league to be EXACTLY like it is in lost ark. And when lost ark doesnt take it serious, cause they see the biggets moba in the world, us MOBA players really see that they just dont give af about the genre and would rather have league/dota just monopolize it.

I wrote a long essay to any point wiich youtube lost. Oh well to sum up: -he s burned out, and someone who clearly mever really put efforts to learn tricks and tips of any content. Most of what he claims was nerfed is still there (oneshotting bosses with billion dmgs ie), just gated by the need of proper play and collaboration within a skilled set of players, unlike just using a macro on a gunlancer to announce you re about to press a button that will allow you to melt the boss. Unlike @asmongold said, there is content you cant just walk over requiring skills and knowledge, that being simply not doing content extremely overgeared. With his char being maxed and no alts, he cant know how much harder and skillfull any legion raid is at proper ilvl, how many more mechs bosses do, and how being hit once means losing 60% hp a hit. Every semi hardcore players using 1475 alts in clown learned every breathe the dude does, whoch in order makes us skilled enough to compensate for the lack of ilvl of overgeared toons. Besides you can still bus all raids, vykas and clown included. So yes askon, you can actually fill in for someone s else lack of skill. Provided you learned the fights not on a 1520 character. Cosmetics are good under a price, but thats in every game tbh. Lost srk provides and will provide more of them to be combined with the old ones you might have already. Titles will always be useless given you can buy them with a bus - hell modes Included-. Besides, titles and rare things should be for your own satisfaction not for others to watch. That said, what wisard says calls burnout, as you cant pretend people thinking about titles and achievements when they still focusing on leveling or reaching endgame. Those come after you re "set" with your roster and can allow yourself extras. What he blames literally comes from someone spending so much time ingame that he reached said stages way earlier. No surprises there. Last, friends quitting? You dont need to rebuild anything, you can literally join an ongoing guild or find another static group making new friends. Tbh, that might be more enjoyable than logging to spend 10 mins doing content you oneshot at memory with the same group since a year.

I think with the recent increase in content and events as well as brelshaza dropping sooner smilegate realizes that pre legion t3 raid hell will kill the game. Imo they need to essentially have it be msq all continents straight to punika and 1370 then maybe a full week of mats on average to get to 1415 with valtan. Good combat and raids are the only reason people play LA and you don’t really get that until the legion raids + argos. With the current actually pretty strong roster of big mmos out now with updates and ones on the way if you have to spend 200 hours and weeks if not months just to get to the reason to play

the reason there's crap engravings and crap stats is its a way to control drop rates. Think about it, how many times you get crap engravings and stats vs good ones. you just about NEVER get a accessory you can use, almost every book that drops is a useless engraving. the fact i can't grind for accessories i can use and have to buy them is why I'm about to quit this game. fact is crap engravings and states have higher drop rates guaranteed.

The thing with lost ark the game is full of veterans and with that ppl are gatekeeping they won't raid with you if there is a 15ilvl even for daily raids and that's not gonna stop you from playing everyone will clear the content at the end but you will do the same gatekeeping to them with your best geared character
