I had mixed emotions. So much heritage was demolished in the 1960's it seems. Not just the Halls, but Nottingham's architectural heart. I take solace that some Halls have survived. I hope they can be kept for future generations. I would have liked the video to have lingered on the map a little longer and made it clear where the building stood/ stands. I think it an important work that should be taken, and made available, in Nottingham libraries.

Nuthall Temple was a magnificently resplendent Renaissance Manor in an Italian style owned by a landowning-clergy family who like many after WW1 could not afford it so it was demolished & deliberately set ablaze in 1929 by its new owners a beeston building company JH Brough. Only in the 1960s were the sad remains completely demolished, the main damage done almost 4 decades before.

Hempshill Hall is older than you think - try dating it around 1200 AD.

Thanks and I don't doubt you. Most of these halls had something previously built on the site before the main hall itself was built. In the case of Hempshill Hall, I went with the build date given by the new owners from their website for "significant" parts of the building.

@@paulturton9755 Hi Paul, I know the owner and he had the timbers carbon dated. The oldest timber was from around the 1200's and was originally part of a two roomed structure that eventually was extended over the centuries into what it is now. The oldest oak timbers still hold part of the house up and have now been structurally reinforced. Great video by the way.

They were demolished before people started listing buildings sadly. Back then they didn't care about knocking something down because of cost
