The lost station of Myrene was built in the 1930s by Hellenic State Raiways and Hellenic Army as starting point of Amfipolis branch line. This 24km used for special military transfers conenting the port of Amfipolis at eastern coast of Chalkidiki with the Grecobulgarian borders around Serres. Myrene is the junction point on the 93km of Thessaloniki-Alexandroupolis main corridor. Since early 2000s, the stations is abandoned as a new section was constructed during improvements. Not far from the old station of Myrene is Aggites river. The line passes from the norrowest point of the river, which creates a breathtaking gorge.
In the video we follow and AEG Dmu on 600A and IC91 trains, running between Thessaloniki and Drama.
