AWEEE! He is so sweet! I’m miserable right now.. missing my Chi Chi.. my youngest son moved in with my oldest son and we have to share our sweet precious Rocko, our Chihuahua.. I MISS HIM SO BAD being here everyday. But we got him bc my son was suffering with depression and Rocko changed his life. That’s why his name is spelled ROCKO, my son says he is his ROCK! So glad to see that the Formosa is still there. I used to walk by it all the time. I remember driving by the original Brown Derby, every day, when it was still in Hollywood. And I used to eat at Schwabb's drug store back in the '80s before it was torn down. Nice that you are capturing so much of this history while it is still here.

From what I know which isn't much. Once someone was signed to a studio they couldn't make a movie at a different studio. The studios took care of it's stars and kept their stars antics secret from the press. Like you say they don't do things like this anymore. Nice to see our boy Jah. I hope you feel better soon. I was a founder of the group that advocated for the preservation of the historic buildings on "The Lot". The area on Santa Monica where the "art exhibit" is now was the original studio entrance. The famous photo of Douglas & Mary hoisting the banner sign was shot right there. The door with the view holes was Howard Hugh's personal garage. His office and screening room were just beyond the inside doorway on the second floor. On the Formosa side, the building with the Arch on the roof was Douglas' personal gymnasium. A portion of his sunken jogging track is still on the inside outer wall on Santa Monca near Formosa. And where the Oprah OWN building is now was once the Mary Pickford Mixing stage. Hundreds of famous films were mixed in that building including Star Wars. Speaking of Star Wars, when George Lucas finished filming Star Wars in England he was editing the film and was completely unhappy with the Cantina scene. He begged for more funding and reshot the cantina scene right there on The Lot. One other tidbit, in 1973 a fire broke out in one of the maintenance buildings at The Lot and before the fire department could arrive the studio crews began to fight the fire. One person who helped out was Steve McQueen. His recent training came in handy because at the time he was working at the studio filming The Towering Inferno.

Having worked at Warner Hollywood in the 90s, this was interesting. So many great memories and good people, with whom I worked, on that little lot. Those were different times and WH was an iconic place to go to work everyday. I still have my stack of I’d cards from those years.
