I just want to say, I watch MANY podcasts. Zach’s quickness with his sound bites and his sense of humour is truly an art form. He’s in a league of his own. Just wanted to show him some love.

Not only that, he handles audio levels so well. As someone who studies audio engineering, I know you have to be vigilant and organized, especially when someone else can control their own gain dial. Doing that AND sound biting so well, I'm inspired many times.

Ethan’s rant about Demi’s sister has to be one of the funniest things he’s ever said. The bury the yogurt, extending the tiktok rose that costs 1 cent, saying she panhandles for Tik tok stickers, that she goes and asks Demi for money atleast once a month and Olivia interrupting to say “she’s never coming on here now” I love Goblin Ethan

okay, purely based on madison’s face in the tiktok when bringing up h3, I believe allegedly that she wanted this to happen, she tweeted hoping that ethan would see it and want her on the show so she could get that attention. until I hear the true story, it’s my headcanon that demi doesn’t care but madison is a fallen fan and wants ethan’s attention. she called in and she knows that ethan is going to keep talking about her until she eventually gets to come on the show.

I agree, although i think they did a great job with the True Crime. At first i was a little hesitant about it bc it’s already a defined area on YT. I feel like they did a decent job making it different by letting the audience follow the investigators. They should totally try mysteries though, those are a bit more of an uncharted territory on YT.

Lena and AB did an amazing job with the true crime segment, but I think it’s just not my cup of tea. The only way I could see it working is if it was about “fun” crimes, like heists or Robinhood type criminals. The presentation was so well researched and put together, but I've heard about serial killers like the nightstalker, ted bundy, johnn wayne gacy and jeffrey dahmer, etc like 20,000 times. I've watched the A and E biographies, seen movies, did my own reading. There was nothing wrong with the powerpoint, but anyone who is interested in true crime has heard about the nightstalker before, ad nauseam, and anyone who isn't into true crime...isn't into true crime.

I think true crime is just a different rodeo than what Ethan and h3 is doing/is prepared for. Putting real life tragedies and crime in the middle of a comedy podcast doesn’t reach the audience it might’ve intended it to be. Shoutout to AB and Lena, though! But I think that trying a serious topic like this that already has its own controversies can break the comedic cohesion of what makes this podcast special. Just not the time or place but much love. Sometimes things don’t work, and that’s okay.

I think this was a tough one because (with love to Lena ❤) all the true crime fans who would have been excited for a crime PowerPoint already saw the Nightstalker Netflix doc, and anyone who doesn’t know of this case doesn’t like true crime anyway. So she got a tough crowd. Also, typing full paragraphs on PowerPoint slides and then reading the slides word for word is something we’re taught not to do in school. The PowerPoint is just meant to be a guide with visual aids and bullet points, while the story telling is up to the presenter from memory. Overall, I DO want to see more from Lena and AB and I hope this encourages them both to keep improving! I loved the effort, and thought AB’s ad-lib input really elevated the whole thing! Lena looked cute in her glasses too! Edit to add: something more relevant and lighthearted would have worked better than 1980s ultra dark SA stories. Think Carlee Russell and Sherri Papini’s cringe kidnapping hoaxes for example. THAT would have been funny and also relevant to current events.

@@SixHundredAndSixtySix Exactly. I get that she was nervous, but this is a multi-million dollar podcast with 50,000 ppl watching. I think improv/acting classes would do Lena a world of good, and I mean that sincerely. I’ve taken them before and it really does give you confidence and change how you speak, perform. It’s worth it for the pod to invest in her taking a once a week class like that ❤️ I hope Ethan pays for that, it would improve the pod overall. Not everyone can be a natural like Ethan! And Olivia was a theater kid to begin with, so she has that training. It’s okay for Lena to take some classes. The whole team could have either prepared her better or put a stop to it before going live. Do they not do focus groups or brainstorming sessions together? No test run with the crew? Lena is taking the heat, but someone should have put a stop to this before it went live. Her monotone voice needed work, the subject matter was outdated, dark, and irrelevant, and the slides were text heavy/scripted. These are all fixable problems, and id love to see what she comes back with after some improv/acting classes!! We love her, she just needs to be set up for success!

I feel like if you guys are going to to more true crime it would be a lot more interesting if you didn’t do one of the most well known serial killers. I know me and a lot of people know all about this case, so I just think it would be cool to learn about way more niche and lesser known cases.

I’m shocked they did this case, it’s been so over done the last few years with all the documentaries about him. Lisk was literally caught through dna two weeks ago… that’s the biggest solved serial killer since gsk… I don’t think they realize how many of us might be big into true crime

I extremely appreciate the sensitivity AB and Lena took with the TrueCrime. I used to love listening to true crime podcasts but getting older I feel like it is really hard to hear the gruesome and gorey details. I'm not sure if podcasts are getting more explicit or I am just getting more soft but I like having the crew be like a warm cozy blanket offering light hearted input to break up the heaviness.

i think there were moments during presentation that were really interesting and engaging. the amount of effort, research and dedication Ab & Lena put into it was amazing and Cam’s background looked really cool. however, gruesome facts and details of the case were reeeeal tough. wouldn’t want to all of this hard work to go to waste and i think i heard Love bring up a good idea to include more silly goofy crimes where nobody dies and got SA’d? especially not serial killers and more like a drama. as an examples: Elizabeth Holmes case, Anna Delvey

I’m a massive True Crime fan so was super excited for this powerpoint, which was so amazingly put together, but so dissapointed that it was just 90% reading out the slides in a monotone voice. The great thing about Olivia’s powerpoints is that she has a lot of her own knowledge about the subjects she talks about and can add a bunch of information to slides with just a couple pictures and small amounts of text to keep it interesting and feeling like a natural conversation about a topic. Lena’s powerpoint looks AMAZING and the effort was so high, I just wish next time Lena / AB talk about something they can add their own info about and don’t just read out walls and walls of text that make it sound a little like a school history lecture. Just constructive criticism, loved the powerpoint itself and felt the case was really well covered, so J hope they do more in the future! Peace and love, peace and love :) x

Stephanie Soo is so horribly disrespectful, I can't watch any of her stuff. And I liked other true crime channels. Had to bow out of the true crime part for my own mental health. When we talk about goofy internet drama with no serious harm coming to people I feel safe and comforted by the joking around. With true crime, it’s not at all light hearted so it’s hard to see the crew treat it that way. Maybe more minor offenses/weird or unusual cases vs brutal ones are better for goofs in the future. Just my opinion! Hope I can watch the full ep next time!

@@brysephone A lot of the time it comes from pain, it can be "everyone in my life has hurt me, this is the worst person that exists, if they dont hurt me maybe im redeemable." Or some obsession with trying to "fix/save" someone, or "save" society by fixing this person. It usually is from being exposed to violence and abuse and not having processed it and dealt with the trauma in a healthy manner, so many fkn issues and behaivors are created from trauma, it can take a lifetime to deal with it all and thats only if the person is self aware enough or has someone in their life to help them through the journey. I had a fascination with "evil guys/anti heros" in movies and books, but it never moved past fiction, I find it disturbing and gross people are attracted to real evil, but I mostly feel sad and worried that these people don't see the mental damage they are causing to themselves, feeding that pain and allowing it to manifest in really fkn weird ways like this.
