@@brianthedesertbumit actually happens in so many careers. It's the very reason the police are so corrupt, for example. But even industries you wouldn't expect can be like that. The difference is the most powerful industries (such as Hollywood, police, and military) have the most powerful tactics. It's like the bullying Alexa described during Zoey 101 - it only takes 1 or 2 bad people to get into a position of power then everyone is so on edge that they join in for fear of backlash. It's not isolated to nickelodeon or children's shows, that mentality is present in so many places. It's frightening.
@FungusMossGnosis

What a ridiculous comment, made all the more insane that 747 people liked it. If someone is "ranking" their alleged sexual assaults by "levels of trauma" that sounds more like evidence of being addicted to therapy and fame than evidence of serious abuse. What's the worst example she gave (didn't have time to listen to all this)? All I heard was the Jonah Hill awkwardly kissed me one and on another site she claimed the musician she seduced at 16 (she seemed to blame it on being high on LSD), waited until she was 18 to "rape" her (the details sound gross yet consensual), then they got married.

I’m gonna be the dissenting voice here and I’m sure sure I’m gonna get piled on, but I think Alexa is a liar. I think she is a habitual liar who has an enabling mother and her flip-flopping on Drake Bell is not unusual when you think about it like this. I know that everyone wants to believe survivors, but she used the label Survivor to protect herself from any accountability, which makes me believe that she is exaggerating at best what happened to her and completely lying at worst. I’m sorry y’all I know that seems disappointing. But we can’t put on our blinders.

I feel like it’s disingenuous to say that she lost the case as she herself dropped it and her ex husband lost his counter case against her attorneys. I get the skepticism as it’s important to verify stories but I feel like there’s enough info to verify she is telling the truth. Also let’s be fucking real here, person to person, even if the bullying was a lie, it’s been confirmed that Dan Schneider is a disgusting person and there is a huge predator problem in Hollywood concerning child actors. I believe the focus should be on all of these celebrities who should not have access to children. All of these stories have one thing in common: mistreatment of children in Hollywood, that’s what I care about and that’s what everyone should probably focus on. Also as Dan Schneider was allowed to get away with so much with Nickelodeon, it’s not a stretch to imagine that there was an uncontrolled environment and weird culture on set that contributed to a hostile workplace.@@gfhsdfhsdfgsfsdfhsdfgsfd4560

Every time I've thought "didn't you research this dude?" it actually turns out that he had but wanted to encourage the other person to put it in their words so he can either support or challenge what they have to say later. hearing Alexa talk about ranking instances of abuse really hit me, literally in the last hour I have realised that I've used it as a form of self-preservation. if there's an instance I can describe as 'the worst thing that's ever happened to me' then I can devalue the others and just lump them into 'all the other ones', but this makes all those other ones seem too insignificant in comparison to be worth addressing/processing/working through. when 'worse stuff' has happened, why would I spend time thinking about this one? I'm glad she spoke about how validated she felt seeing Jonah's ex speak about the emotional abuse she suffered because I completely relate, it's so easy to underestimate the power of emotional abuse in comparison to physical/sexual, even when you're the one experiencing it. an emotionally abusive relationship I was in at 17 has had deeper and more lasting impacts on me than some instances of sexual assault I've experienced. it's all relative. don't give others (or yourself) the power to devalue the validity of your experiences, you deserve more than that.

The reason his boundaries are manipulative is the full context. Many of the things he complained about are core aspects of being a professional surfer, and it's not okay to go out of your way to date one and then once they love you, try to change them. I wouldn't get together with a doctor and then guilt trip them for working too much. If the doctor started modeling, then putting up those boundaries is more fair because it's a relevant change to the dynamic of a relationship. It's also abusive because it's not just "this is my preference", it's "you are bad because you are doing this thing I don't like."

@@drevm7991 Aww, I'm sorry it's so easy for you to abandon the people you love. For a lot of people, they aren't as quick to give up. Hopefully, one day, you'll understand what it's like to love and be loved like that

@@lou1012good one let em have it. So sick of comments like that. Could never be me telling a person being manipulated to just "walk away". Your dad's a scumbag bruh? Just walk away. Like PLEASE demonstrate some degree of nuanced (if their brain is capable of that) and consider the full depth of a 2 YEAR relationship.

@@amirahazhar4192 People think too black and white about this. Someone can be abusive, and still love you, and you can still love them. This type of abusive often presents as occassional insecurity at first too, so the whole time you think you are helping your partner and growing. But eventually, it'll turn into abusive the more repetitive it becomes and the intentions change, and you often don't realize it's happening until the relationship is over or ready to progress past that abusive nature. These men say "just leave them", and then also get mad at girls who abandon men when they are experiencing these insecurities and defense mechanisms. The logic don't logic.

He just set boundaries because it would not work out. Sarah Brady is abusive holding onto texts trying to ruin someone's life when they are happy

@@bryanflynn506 Bryan. Let's pretend you were a doctor whose passion was to travel and volunteer, and I began dating you, praising you for passion. Then, when it doesn't benefit me to do that anymore, try to guilt you out of your passions for my own needs. Am I "setting boundaries"? No. It would be setting boundaries if I told you that I'm unwilling to travel to certain countries with you, or ask that we make time to see each other every year while we are apart. You date people who are in line with your relationship expectations, set reasonable boundaries according to both of your needs. You don't attempt to change fundamental aspects of a person. It's not her responsibility to ensure he sets appropriate boundaries and it's not her responsibility for him to just leave her. If he decided that he was unhappy with the inherent qualities of her personality and dreams, HE should leave. It'd be weird for her to guilt him into leaving comedy and film because of her personal insecurities. If I present a guilt tripping tactic and call it a boundary, that doesn't make it a boundary. I can give you a bird and swear it's an egg all day, doesn't make it so.

Hearing Alexa’s story about her experience on set made me so angry!! The amount of bullying from costars AND executives makes me so sick. No child should go through something like that!

It's so heartwarming that Britney Spears took accountability and apologized. Love to see women supporting women in this industry.
