Iwashi Uri Koi no Hikiami ("The Sardine Seller and the Net of Love") is the greatest contribution of novelist Yukio Mishima to kabuki, and one of the most important plays since the end of the Meiji period. It is also a treasured work of the Nakamuraya repertoire.

Thank you for another fantastic upload ... and what a lovely story, perfect for Kabuki. It's become a new favourite. I love it. If you didn't mention the fact that this play was written in the 1950's, I'd be convinced that it was from a time much earlier than that. It's no wonder there was such faith in the production, on the part of the actors. Oh, and the actors who play the horses do a fantastic job. I'm reminded of the stage adaptation of the Michael Morpugo novel, War Horse, where the horse was a large puppet manipulated by puppeteers - the Kabuki actors playing horses would do a much better job. Keep up the great work.
