No excuses, nothing. Humble in defeat and giving Brook his props. Fair play Amir. Won an Olympic silver at 17. Commonwealth at 20. World Champ at 22. Unified World Champ at 24. Fought 16 World Titlists, won 11 lost 5. FOTY vs Maidana. Headlined Vegas and New York. An absolute trailblazer who fought in three seperate decades. Been a professional for over half of his entire life. Achieved more than what 99% of fighters ever do in this brutal sport and always showed a ton of guts. An absolute throwback fighter who fought everyone and anyone, came up short a few times but also had his moments. Khan will be missed when he retires. Time to hang em up now champ.

People outside the Pakistani/South Asian community will never understand how much of of an inspiration this man has been for us. I remember the 04 Olympics, sat with my mum watching a 17 year old Khan going on destruction job, outclassing fully fledged men as a skinny teenager. Finally, someone who looked like me representing Britain at the very highest of levels. Watching him last night was heart wrenching. Not just because he got beat, because that was literally 2% of the fighter he once was. A khan who had 0 speed, no balance and no zip in his punches. His biggest mistake was not retiring 4 years ago, after vargas. Even tho he won the fight deservedly, he was getting hurt and dropped against a man with a 40% ko ratio. The writing was on the walls. But like the greatest fighter ever prime for prime Roy Jones, he overstayed his welcome in the ring. Prime for Prime Amir will go down as one of the greatest fighters to ever come out of the UK. What a fighter he was. Good luck in retirement Amir. You're legacy is forever, you were more than a boxer in our community, you were an inspiration in the sporting arena. All these young Asians fighting in the ABAs and pros are there because of YOU. Thank you for everything.
