60 years ago I was the “starting motor” & student pilot for Dads 1946 Chief. I was 14. It had an 85 hp Cont, climb prop, oversized tires, aux fuel tank, toe brakes and a dry cell powered radio. This was 1964 in Moses Point Alaska up close to Nome on Norton Sound. Learned about cross wind landings (no flaps), power on stalls (mushed like a husky), and how to use the correct tie down knots. Fun days!

I like landing on grass, not so much taking off, at least in my plane. with 65 hp the takeoff roll is pretty slow on the grass!
