My two favorite non-towered airports in the LA area are Flabob.... and this one! Santa Paula airport is a very busy and action packed, but small airport to the northwest of Los Angeles. Aerobatic pilots and plenty of vintage aircraft flying around, and lots of history... this is a one airport that every pilot should visit.

Great glimpse of my kind of airport. Reminds me of the flights I used to do in my Champion 7FC Tri-Champ. That was in Northern California in the 70's, but we had some great little airports up there as well. Nowadays, I just fly Aeroncas and Champs in the sim!

Nice plane. Your starter is on the big and bulky side of things other than that great classic plane from the Golden Age of Aviation. Thx for the tour and airplane watching. The Cessna 195 was sharp.

Yes! I need to get down to your neck of the woods, and especially Santa Paula. Nice Coupe in the video there. The Ronca sounds so cool, I like the way you mix the sound in.

I learned to fly at Santa Paula! Started on Jan. 1st, 1975. I sure has gotten more developed, such as the parking area, since I've been their. I live in south Indiana now!

Hey there! And yes, I have met some tower controllers and I've been able to tour the control tower at the Van Nuys airport! It's very cool! They are pretty guarded about shooting videos up there though...

I live in Rosemead, Ca. Never been in a small plane but have the itch. If there is no tower control how do pilots take off/ land without hitting each other?

At an airport like this, there is an established traffic pattern (kind of like a course in the air around the airport), and standard procedures for who goes first, plus pilots are talking to each other on the radio, so they can coordinate what order they land or takeoff in. It works surprisingly well!

I learned to fly at Mike Dewey Aviation when I was 17. That was over 50 years ago! Dad had a D17S Staggerwing hangared there from 1961 - 1977. Today I'm based at Van Nuys but fly my Beechcraft Baron into Santa Paula often. Always a pleasure to get back to my roots.

Nice! I recently filmed myself flying to Sikeston, Missouri to eat at Lambert’s which is a popular place to fly to get a $100 hamburger. Its on my channel. I love filming myself flying to these destinations to make vids. Its been so much fun since I bought my Cessna 172 back in October.

I worked at victory aviation back when I was 18 in East Palo Alto airport in shipping and receiving and this was a job my older brother got me that was actually an airplane engine builder they are a very prominent aviation company like my brother had a football signed by Joe Montana from the San Francisco 49ers because he built Joe Montana's airplane engine and I actually seen him shake his hand

Your method of hand propping seems inherently dangerous. In this regard, perhaps you might give careful consideration to speaking with others more knowledgeable than me before you have an accident

Just picked up an inherited Icom IC-A2 and found your video on air transceivers. Saw some beautiful 6 strings in the background, a Metaltronix amp in the background (all hail Blakk and LaRocque!) Also a private pilot musician in NH, 180Stol, 172, Supercub! You’ve got a friend and fellow warrior in NH my man.
