*_Former Boeing Everett. I am more familiar with giant aircraft but can easily see the advanced engineering used._* Every Industry has their own design criteria, goals, government regulations, passenger wants, and more. It is up to Engineering to provide Solutions. Although this video is 11 years old, I can imagine how far KONČAR Group has come since producing it. It took a second to realize what a 'Low-Floor' meant. Yes, the lower you can make to rail-car in relationship to platform height is a big plus for many passengers; including the elderly and handicapped. Ingress and Egress is so important in public transportation of any type. In aircraft, boarding and unboarding is controlled. In an emergency all passengers need to be outside aircraft within 90 seconds. Emergency Slides are used and the crew practice a lot. It would be nice if planes like trains were much closer to the height of the tarmac instead of being 1-2 stories high. Jumping from that height is not advised, usually resulting in broken bones. *_Regional Trains, Urban, and Rapid Transit all rely on cutting edge Engineering. KONČAR Group is in the forefront._*

How beautiful is technology accompanied by the quality of life in its people, I have a healthy envy, without any bad intention, but I do not stop being amazed by people as passengers with peace of mind traveling on cute respectful and above all clean trains My country is impossible that education, here is all pushing, pulling, poorly educated people, shouting and street vendors without any education, they do not sell but shout and do not respect your fatigue, in short, greetings people from Argentina.

Impressive! Looks like passenger access IS available for out the front end viewing as well (as unfortunately most contemporary rolling stock does not accommodate this). If I had my own railway system I would seriously look into KONČAR myself.

Končar needs to be main train supplier for Croatia, all the trains should have the same height of door enterance, flat for those with wheelchair or child to enter. We need domestic production! Maybe you can condiser doing train tracks too ;)

Take a picture of that lovely interior after a year or so when the immigrants get through tearing it apart. The bathroom will be the first to be destroyed and then they will revert to their natural habit of relieving themselves on the floor. They should have built them with stainless steel interiors that could be hosed out.

What immigrants? We don't have that, very limited and not free to wonder around if asylum seekers, and anyways they are just people too they act accordingly to what is allowed, and here people still have some dignity and don't shit in the streets or shoot drugs and sleep in the streets, you got some wrong info or some biases.

Nice looking train, but I've always hated the idea of articulated cars. If you can't uncouple cars from a train, somehow it just doesn't seem like a real "train" to me. Maybe that sounds weird, but I hope it makes sense. Also, I would think that it would make maintenance a lot harder.

If you think about it it’s really really simple to build a locomotive. Basically just a generator with dc motors
@peterudbjorg7 жыл бұрын
What are you thinking about? Diesel locomotives are basically that. But theres a/c, 16 2/3 Hz single phase which indeed used basically DC motors, and there’s 50/60 Hz single phase traction, which requires A/C motors. And now there’s multiphase traction, single phase from the catenary is converted to three phase a/c in the locomotive, and the motors are "simple" (simple ectric-wise…) polyphase motors. I can highly recommend a few good books on the subjects, Google & Wikipedia is your friend! :)

FLIRT is different product. The FLIRTs are unique in way that they are bi mode multiple units. They have an articulated car that houses 2 V8 diesel engines driving alternators alongwith other equipment. The sets also have 25 kV AC equipment for working on overhead power. The product comes in both 3 car and 4 car configurations. The US has purchased a 3 car FLIRT unit that works as a DEMU set on one suburban route.
