I've had this happen a few times before, and I will confirm its the height of the latch retainer plate. Guarantee the reason why you've had it happen in this circumstance is because you were using it with the packer which is normally a harder surface than a timber door. Most of the time it'll just dig into the timber or paint and the small amount of tolerance doesn't matter. The ones that are slightly out, you'll only ever notice on a install using a packing plate or on something like a steel frame gate. Every single one I ever install, I'll apply blue locktite on the 201 screws and tighten them just so by hand. Rules out back plate buckle. Hope this helps.

I've had a problem with the secondary on a pair of 002s. They were quite old. Just needed to add some lube. In one case, the retaining spring had come loose so I had to put that back.

Been having a similar issue with the current crop of 3572 and SCEC Compliant 3579. There is a DL trigger that lifts as the latch starts to depress. But it seems to just catch an edge and the latch won’t depress. If you tap the end it does depress but fails when trying to latch when the closer operates. Frustrating, have returned a few units recently.

No only 10 min to swap it out, I think lockwood have fixed it on the new batch, The first lock was maybe 6months old, the new lock was fresh and worked well, so lets hope they have fixed it in the new batch
