Dr Lock. You are a super star. I couldn't get my key out of the lock while reinstalling the whole assembly. The "turn the key 180 degrees" after putting on the hub was an "unknowable" to me. Indebted.

Thanks mate! I removed mine from my apartment to upgrade (or so I thought) with a Samsung digital lock, found out after the fire inspection that it’s not compliant so had to go back to the good old Lockwood 001! You video made my install back easy!!

great instructional video, the only mistakes I made were my own fault for not paying attention to the video 8:05 once you have checked it turns freely ensure that the v part of the wheel is facing in where the strike plate will be and then proceed to install the latch body. The key wont be inside the lock during latch body installation if you've done it correctly

You know when you use one hand to open the lock and it gets held in place, "hold back" on our lock this has become a hair trigger and lets go easily, is this a simple fix? Or is the lock worn out?

Dr Lock! Great vid. I don't know what's going on with my 001, but all seems to be working as per your vid, until the door is actually shut. The key won't turn from the outside. I think it's got something to do with the secondary, but not really sure. Distance is about 4-5mm from strike plate when closed. If I hold secondary all the way in though when door is open, key wont turn at all. We normally only use from inside to open and hold back, but obviously annoying when door blows shut and lock ourselves out in back yard >_
@DrLockShop5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the back of the lock is not all the way back, it needs to be put on. pushed back, then the 2 screws, if the lock is not all the way back from the front the key will not turn all the way
@bigboy99834 жыл бұрын
@thousand Years Of Oppression Had the same problem with my lock. I compared it to another 001 and the problem is with the manufacturing of the backing plate. Take lock off door and screw it all together and try to unlock with a screwdriver. The problem will still persist. Now back off the side screws and install two small spacers between backing plate and the lock body. Tighten up side screws. The problem will go away. Take it back and get a new backing plate, or do as I did (poor mans way) and bend the lugs to make up for spacer. You need a strong vice and a coal chisel. It’s a crap fix but it does work

Not sure if you can help me. I replaced a whitco deadlatch attached to my external steel door using instructions supplied & your video which I watched multiple times. My issue is the door doesn't stay closed, I can close it & then just push it open with my hand. I have no idea what I did wrong.
@DrLockShop4 жыл бұрын
you need to adjust your strike most likely up or down, the latch is not going into the strike
@Padraig1232 жыл бұрын
Question. Does that meet fire regulations and is it possible to change an existing deadbolt to a self closing latch?
@DrLockShop2 жыл бұрын
The 001 dose, you will need a 001 sleeve to change a deadbolt to a self latching lockwood 001 , but they are currently sold out

When you state that the lock won't comply if installed too high. What do you mean by that? Fire rated compliance?
@DrLockShop5 жыл бұрын
No council, it will still work in a fire, but the hight is part of the fire door regulations, needs to be accessible for short people too, in short , if you mount the lock high to keep the kids in, you may get asked to lower it when they do a fire inspection
@Testadisceccu5 жыл бұрын

@DrLockShopАй бұрын
They are metal self-tapping screws into the metal frame, and they are designed to be forced open when the fire department needs to fore entry, it's the standard for this type of lock, and yep it's harder than you think to kick open. No lock on a unit door would stop a crowbar and a little effort, but it will give you some standard level of protection
