What a load of crap. LT4 is one of the most reliable engines in recent history. Keep it stock and you will not have an issue. The only issue was with the C7 Z06 was because it had a low frontal area with not enough cooling. I went from a C7 Z06 to a ZL1/1LE and cannot emphasize how amazing the motor is. The ZL1 and ZL1/1LE did the right thing with lots of cooling. KEEP IT STOCK!!

My personal experience with the LT4, don't mess with it, leave it stock. Most people who think they know how to improve what GM created, simply do NOT know what they're doing and their lack of understanding the engineering of the LT4, creates a snowball of issues after mods and tuning.

Not gon' lie, the title of the video had me fuming. :D The LT4 is super reliable. I beat mine on the track regularly and am probably the hardest on the car in all of KZbin (peep my channel). This motor should easily go 100k+ or more. I'd say even 200k+ miles with no issues. Bad tuning is the achilles heel of the LT4. ...and yes, assuming you can supply adequate fuel, they'll take up to about 1200hp before they grenade. I wish we would have gotten the LT5 from the C7 ZR1 as a sendoff.
@BLUPRINT1LE5 ай бұрын
🤣🤣🤣 I’ll definitely go check it out, I like track content. Bad tuning is one but lifters, dod and the Val train is yet the big deal with them it was the oil pump for a while till they fixed it and a lot of these cars was stock, when you modify it without knowing about these cars going in, it’s a hefty bill waiting for you.
@midnight3475 ай бұрын
100k miles ain't shit on a modern car. Saying it'll last 100k or more isn't exactly glowing reception lol. Most modern engines should go well over 100k if properly maintained so that's like bare minimum expectation these days.
@Turbo3295 ай бұрын
@@midnight347 if you're talking about a Hyundai or a Kia that's driven to work and back with the occasional cars-n-coffee thrown in, then yeah. However, the LT4 can take 100k+ miles of abuse easily. I've got 30k+ on mine and most of those are track miles on the limit. next year it will probably be 60k+ which would probably equate to 150k-200k of regular driven miles. Maybe more. Also, a lot of 'modern' engines as you put it have a hard time reaching 100k miles. WRX Sti's bottom ends are known to fail. Hondas are known to burn oil which can lead to failure if not maintained. Golf GTi's can become problematic around the 70k mark as well. LS engines had valve train issues not too far back. ...and the list goes on. Exotic cars? Forget about it. Most need a major clutch service at the 30k mark. Saying "Most Modern Engines" I would argue is an over-generalization that can be argued both ways.

My current 2023 zl1 6spd I daily drive it and it spun a main bearing at 4k miles driving to work on the 10. I think it was one of those gm strike builds.
