Yes, and that is the comedy of life. People create problems and then create laws to solve them and then make those laws complicated and then work harder to fix them, and so on. They then complain that "life is hard". If aliens are watching us, they are watching a 24/7 comedy show on Earth.

Dont blame yourself - times were different 50/60 yrs ago ( _which equates to half a century_ ) ; compare the *environmental + climatic* changes which have occurred since then, and the *quality* of foods people used to eat. There were no *Fast Foods* , it wasnt a society of *Super Size Me* - people were lean and more athletic physically, there was no *Internet* where people sat around like _couch potatoes_ all day tweeting and uploading _selfies_ on Facebook; they were OUT there living their lives & being *active* ! The word *obesity* did not exist, and you never saw any obese ( _overweight_ ) people anywhere! Imagine that the _largest dress size_ a woman could get back in the day was a size 14! ( _and in today's day that dress size goes up to God knows what!!! But I think its over 62!!!_ ) ; In today's world, *obesity* is praised and those who are obese are hailed as being *courageous* for not being "ashamed" of their bodies. Imagine that being the case back like.... 20 years ago ( _not to say further_ ) ? Back then, you never even heard of a person having *Diabetes* - and if you did, it was surprising! Today, its surprising to hear of a person NOT being diabetic - cause 7 out of 10 people are diabetic! ( _or very well on their way to becoming diabetic_ ) Yea, the times have changed - *technologically* for the better - but not where humanity is concerned. We are slowly killing ourselves by destroying the environment, plant life, air, water, forests etc.... and in the process, we are ingesting all of the things we are destroying - and then we complain and wonder as to _why we are sick_ ? Siiiggggghhhhh.... Every day I wake up and wish that I had a damn *Time Machine* :(

Wow! This episode, rare among CA episodes, acknowledged the existence of both her children (2 dependents) and had Lucy mention her son by name, even though it was the wrong name. JIMMY Garrett had played Lucy's son, JERRY Carmichael, up to 2 guest appearances in Season 4, but Lucy insisted she was right about her son being named Jimmy and insisted on calling him that, even though the script had the correct name, Jerry. Harry Hickox, the sergeant in this episode, had played the sergeant in the 1964-65 ABC sitcom, NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS, and he was profiled along with Frank Sutton (Sgt. Carter from GOMER PYLE, USMC) in a June 1965 TV GUIDE article called "TV's Toughest Topkicks". Hickox also made multiple appearances not long after this on Desi Arnaz' sitcom, THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW.

Jon, what was the show’s premise about Lucy’s family? What happened to her husband, and why weren’t her 2 sons living with her?
@jehobden4 жыл бұрын
@@Valmontst From the show's beginning in 1962, Lucy Carmichael, living just outside NYC in NY or CT (I'm not sure which, since i've heard both.), was a widow w/ 2 children, a teenage daughter named Chris and a younger son named Jerry. She shared her house w/ Vivian Bagley, a divorced woman w/ a son, Sherman, who was around Jerry's age. After the 3rd season, the setting of the show moved to S. Cal. Vivian remarried, leaving the show w/ her son, and Lucy's 2 kids rarely appeared. Supposedly, Chris had started college and Jerry, who did appear twice in Season 4, was in some military boarding school and also left the show. I don't know how Lucy afforded school for both her kids considering how broke she was, but that's tv for you.
