Its not crazy at all it just seems that way. That 2k fact keeps getting thrown around but its referring to the mygm mode where an AI is playing the role of another gm and declining the offer. Almost every trade that is actually made in real life will get declined by those AIs if you try to replicate it because real sports transactions are built on nuances of financials and team composition that the game system cant possibly account for so it simplifies it to a five star value system. And at the day, none of this even matters to understanding the Luka trade getting rejected in 2k; young superstars like luka, jokic, giannis, etc, are literally impossible to be traded in the game mode unless you manually remove the player from the opposing GM's settings.

I've been a Mavericks fan for 12 years, 2013 was the first year I started following the team. It was horrible, Dirk was aging and the team was mediocre at best. I just didn't know any better, and there was something magical about Dirk being with the Mavs his whole career. So, Luka being draft in 18 and seeming the heir to surpass his legacy felt inevitable. But this trade is the lowest in franchise history, and that include the Mavs being one of the worst team by record in the 90s. When Cuban sold to the demons who shall not be named, I knew this would happen. Look at where they are donating their money outside of gambling. Read the horror stories of their casino working conditions, and how they are divesting out of Vegas because of these horror stories. The team I have cared about is just another part of these rich owner's portfolio. Not to say Cuban was a perfect owner, he was often too involved in basketball decisions. But him hiring Nico and taking a step back was admirable. But since the purchase from the new owners, I worried for a day where being a fan would do nothing but hurt. It seems silly, but at a time where folks want to believe and have joy in something for many it was Luka and Mavs. Now that logo for us fans just represent pain and betrayal. The worst part is fans are lashing out in harmful ways, doxing Nico the GM, hating on the players traded like AD. While I have empathy being I feel that frustration, I just know that it doesn't matter to them. The arena can be empty, and ticket sales can dwindle to nothing. But when it comes time to build a new arena/casino. They will hold a North Texas city, most likely Arlington, hostage to pay for their new venue. It's all in the interest of wealth, money, and self interested greed. It's never been about sports, joy, or caring for people. It's about the excess of money that when they are gone from this earth, will do them no good where they are going. Sorry for the long comment, just been frustrated about this whole thing.

This video gave me an epiphany, I don’t know why I’ve never thought about this but sports on the base level is about gathering the best players and having them play at the highest level. However with so much money involved there is always going to be behind the scenes corruption and politics we probably will never know about. Owners who don’t care like you said, Nepotism and favoritism for things done off the court. I genuinely enjoy watching basketball but I will never look at it the same this trade was a mistake not because they gave up a generational talent for Pennie’s but because they just peeled back a small piece of the curtain and opened our minds toward what sports really is.

The sad thing is that it’s always been this way. You can almost get a true feel for when it’s a real game and the guys on the court/field are able to really showcase vs when there’s something that feels almost supernatural to the flow of the game. There are some plays, penalties or calls made during games that just don’t make sense. Sports are ruined in large part right now. There are also player props that get heavy bet totals. They’ll barely hook in whichever direction gets Vegas more money, conveniently obviously. They were never close, they were never behind at half. If they were ever down by more than a FG at half, I don’t recall them ever winning. With credit to that, they only lost 2 regular season games. There’s cause for confusion in that. Many names were hurt and that’s honest, but tell me that you could see this team losing by 20+ to ANY team. Goff had a 4 turnover game and they won. You’re telling me they didn’t already have his meltdowns covered? The defense made those good plays to keep them involved.

If there were a conspiracy, then the only one that makes sense is that the NBA approached the Mavs and conspired to trade Luka to the Lakers to generate interest and TV ratings. In return, the Mavs would still get a great older player so they'd still be able to compete now, and the league will return the favor to Dallas by making sure they win the right to draft another generational talent in the future. I don't actually think it was a conspiracy, I think Nico Harrison just went rogue and thinks his plan will lead Dallas to a championship.

Think of the human aspect of this trade too. Luka was a person who’s been playing pro moving around since his early teens. When he finally turned 18 he was drafted by the Mavs and it’s been his home for the last 8 years. He practically grew up there and got found a new home and was ripped from it. All for what? To legalize gambling? To take more money from the working class and to give it to the billionaires? It’s terrible what’s being done to us while we sit idle. And I’m a cavs fan.
