A ton of bands use this progression because it sounds familiar to the ear: -Unsteady by X Ambassadors -Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay -Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry -Apologize by One Republic This list goes on... if you want to learn how to play guitar, you essentially can get by with those four chords.

@@rangeofmotion5993 Very interesting.....except those bands don't have Wesley. I have always wondered why SOME musicians -- I love all of their songs first time I hear it. Probably many of the ones I love have those chord progressions. Composing music always seems miraculous to me. BTW, I Co-Admin a Classic Oldies Group on Facebook. Almost 10,000 members. But I am still open to music from these newer indie bands....I don't even know what 'genre' they fall into. But the Lumineers are my personal favorite of the more recent music. There was a time when I tried to play acoustic guitar! So, thank you for your explanation about the familiar chord progressions!

a few days ago i played this song while in the car on the way to a crematory for my dog. she was already gone, but taking her to the crematory was so hard, especially on a cloudy day. when the first verse was over, the sun came out and only shined on our car, and that’s when i knew it was gonna be okay. my dog is at peace now and i’m glad such an amazing song can be felt through so many emotions.

I love these guys so much. I have learned and can every single song in their last album. My lifelong dream has been to see them live, to actually watch them perform in front of me. Last time they toured I was too young to go and see them, so I promised myself I would see them next time they performed. I waited two years, and I was so excited when I saw they were touring! Fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe, my biggest inspiration, the people who started my love of music and playing music, will come tour close enough to my home town for me to see them on my 14th birthday.
