Interesting. I see parallels with 'alternative' painters, even now contemporary, in Europe. And literally, speaking of parallels - the robe stripes also flattened out in the way they are painted, and in crossed direction to the robe, the parallel profiles of the rifle and the horse (linked in colour).... the meeting of noses in depth, and many other very conscious pictorialisms, that seem to make our eyes act out, in their search for visual clues and meanings, the subject - that of the hunt.

This was an amazing find. I live in Taos and you did a beautiful and accurate job of portraying the history and culture of the Taos Pueblo. The art piece you analyzed was an excellent choice. It was wonderful seeing some of the vintage photographs, too.

Check out the guy on the horse! Pretty in pink (and lavender), I love it, lol. I happen to be wearing pink today, just missing the cloth wrapping my rope twists and a comfy blanket cape . 🙃 More seriously, it is very surprising to see the non-stereotyped attire. I only think of Native Americans in terms of traditional garb, but of course that wasn't / isn't the case. I also generally think of them in historical contexts, so it's interesting to see a sample of them in the modern era.

There are several ideas brought up in this video that might be a nice segway into the few Canadian artist that could be considered part of art history canon (emily carr, group of 7 ect.) e.i. trying to create a unique national identy, stereotyping natives.. It might be nice to see you guys cover some of their work in the future
