You should do the Curse and Die Monster Die next as they’re both films based on The Colour Out of Space. But both apparently just take “the meteor that mutates everything” and that’s it.
@ishtarian5 жыл бұрын
There's also "Die Farbe", a much more faithful adaptation. (It can be found either under that original title, or "The Colour Out of Space". The director was working on a Dreamlands film which looked extremely promising, but I've no idea whether that has been abandoned due to lack of funding or not. If so, that's a damn' shame, as he is one of the few who might well pull such a thing off, being very respectful of the original source material....

Wow, never heard the word "hiring" used to describe, what I am assuming is in place of, the act of "renting", but now that I think about it, it makes sense. You "hire" a person, say to perform a job, for a set amount of time in exchange for money. So, why couldn't you "hire" a movie from a movie rental store for a set amount of time in exchange for money? Although, it wouldn't work the other way around in this case, lmao. Saying that you are "renting" somebody would be a bit suspect to most people, either in regards to you enjoying the company of hookers or that you like to temporarily have slaves do your bidding, lol. But still, it is a pretty strange term to hear, where I am from, which is the USA. Where might you hail from?

For someone typically observant of interesting details, I didn't hear you remark on the inclusion of prolific character actor Vincent Schiavelli in the cast, who played Knaggs. I rented this movie back in the day and, true to 90% of Full Moon's catalog, it was a dumpster fire, but it was nice to see Schiavelli still working. I also recall the videotape case falsely attributing the story to Bram Stoker, which was why I rented it in the first place, but that could be the fog of time creating a small Mandela Effect for me.

"What is this? A Steven King movie?" I literally have a seven page essay on unnecessary tropes that occur almost exclusively in Steven King novels. Pissed off my English teacher to no end.
@WordUnheard6 жыл бұрын
It's *Stephen* King, not Steven. Unless you're referring to a different author. If you're going to trash an author, at least spell his name correctly. And you wrote a whole seven pages? That's cute. Stephen King would call that the foreword. One more thing. There's no such thing as a Stephen King movie, unless you're referring to that godawful "so bad, it's good" Maximum Overdrive, as all other movies were adaptations of his works. In the hands of a subpar director, any adaptation can make its source material look like a steaming pile of dog crap. But as we've seen with directors who actually know what they're doing, Stanley Kubrick (The Shining), Brian De Palma (Carrie), David Cronenberg (The Dead Zone), Rob Reiner (Stand By Me, Misery), Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist), John Carpenter (Christine), and Andy Muschietti (It), adaptations of King's works can range from good to phenomenal. I know everything I said came across as snobbish, and some of it was, but Stephen King deserves a ton of respect. He has practically set the stage for horror as we know it, over the past four decades. Sincerely, Your English teacher Not really, but wouldn't that have been a clever twist? No? Well forgive me, *Lola* . I'm no Stephen King.
@totallynotbrucewayne62156 жыл бұрын
Word Unheard Dude piss off. Stephen king novels are garbage.
@LostStarzOfTheSky6 жыл бұрын
How about this instead, Stephen King has a tendency to fall back on well worn tropes, and some of his books are extremely silly and overblown. Also some of his writing tends to drag and it can get very dense, and his characters can be extremely unlikable. I personally loved the book Misery, found the Dark Half interesting. But Cujo made me want to set all the characters on fire, and It was dull, and took way too long to get going.
@asmahism5 жыл бұрын
LostStarzOfTheSky Stephen King would agree with you about cujo, he was an alcoholic and using a ton of cocaine when he wrote that and a few others. Give the shining a shot. If youve seen the movie you’ve got an idea but the book is very different. Or pet semetery.
