Peter Tsiorba is a luthier based in Portland, Oregon, who built his first guitar in 2001. Originally from Uzbekistan, Peter’s first encounter with a “real” guitar was in Portland. Since then he’s been mastering his craft, traveling around the world to learn luthier techniques, until finally settling in Portland where he runs Tsiorba Lutier tsiorba.com/. Let’s talk to Peter about what he’s learned in the 20 years he’s been making guitars.

It was easy to step into a store and buy a flamenco guitar, but I wanted something better something that has a meaning. I am playing the guitar over 50 years now and decided that I want a luthier to build me a flamenco guitar. I started to search around for a luthier and spoke to many of them. I know pretty well some world famous luthiers from Spain and here in the U.S . After sometime I can across to Peter Tsiorba and decided that he will built me my first flamenco guitar. Peter is a great listener and that is very important to listen to what the customer really wants and to achieve it. Peter built me the first guitar and then the second guitar and now the third guitar. Simply Great guitars that are very hard to find if at all, somewhere else. Thank you Peter.

Peter builds great guitars and is one of the nicest people that I have met also. Looks like he moved to a new shop!

Great to see the spotlight on such a great guy and builder. I ordered a new one from him last year but had to press pause because well I’m a concert musician and I’ve been out of work. Can’t wait to get my Peter Tsiorba guitar though one of these days. Peter has done some great work for me on all of my other guitars and deserves all the success in the world!

There's my favorite luthier! A great artist's works always resemble the artist himself/herself. If you know Salvador Dali you would expect nothing but the Dali's we know of. Piccaso, Piccaso's, and Mozart, Mozart's. Peter's guitars are just like Peter too; always warm, gentle, witty, fun, and yet powerful without sacrificing the delicate tonal balance. I'll cherish his friendship and the guitar he built for me for a long time.
