That's one of the most useful video I've watched for jazz rock music. Thanks ! However when you talk about E melodic minor, as I learnt it in classical music, E melodic minor has two forms which are ascendant (e f# g a b c# d# e) and descendant (e d c b a g f# e) and it has nothing to do with what you describe that starts with a scale with 4 tons in a raw (a b c# d#). That's the main problem I have with jazz modes because I hear the root note and I don't use the notes of a scale while creating modes, changing the order of them.

In jazz you only use the ascending form when describing melodic minor. The way you use it in this context is analysing the intervals of E melodic minor with A being the root note which give you 123#456b7
