Almost 50 years old here. A musician and songwriter. I had stop making music for years until I discovered 21 pilots a few years ago and they inspired me to get back into it. Their approach to making music is so different it’s inspiring. That’s what I see in you. A music creator getting inspired by 21 pilots and it’s fun to watch.

That’s so awesome. I’m 51 (not a musician though), and these guys inspire me like nothing else does. They’re so unique.

Nope... the connections on each album make for the best story telling 🙌 not even reaching either. This is so fun to watch a new Clikkie to get it. 😅

Its fun watching you discover 21 Pilots. My god are you in for ride. Being a fellow musician,I wanted to make some suggestions. If you really want to see Tylers music and mixing abilites, react to the Storyteller performance. Its Tyler re-imagining, mixing and singing on the fly with a Piano, Synth, beatmaker and a laptop. Theres other live sessions as well, MuteMath sessions, Brooklyn sessions. Songs you've already reacted to like Migraine, Car Radio, Holding on to You are in a live session called "The Live Room" . Theres more live sessions as well.

No, you're right, I've seen vocal coaches say he is a "crier" that he often implements a cry tone, which i think adds so much to the emotional portrayal.

one of their most underrated songs - this is some of his best rapping imo - def top 5 from them for me!

I can't wait until you get further in. Tyler's talent explodes as does Josh. Yes, songs tie together ... more the further you get into their music and the lore.

It's all connected dude you're not over thinking it cus in reality when you said "sometimes to stay alive, you gotta kill your mind" made me think that the entire Clancy saga(( 4 albums, 9 years, characters and lore))-is Tyler playing out that lyric!! 🤯

Nah dude, you nailed it! No such thing as over-analyzing when it comes to TOP. And all of their music ties together with various themes, but even deeper with lyricism and musical call backs. They are master of the juxtaposition. Then you add the visuals and the fan base. They're phenomenal on all levels! So pause and pick away, we LOVE it too and are so excited to share with new fans!! ❤|-/💛

Loved it! This was one of the first TØP songs I heard and it pulled me right in to their music. You were correct in noticing a religious theme. Tyler has been open about wrestling with his faith and using their earlier music especially to work through it. But he always does it in a way that leaves room for others to see different things that apply to themselves. “Up, down, and sideways” possibly referring to the sign of the cross; “letters by my bed” possibly referring to the Bible; etc. Also, you will be surprised as you continue through their catalog how many bits and pieces will come back and connect to these older songs. It’s always a journey of easter eggs and “wait a minute”s 😂

@hannahnielsen7694Ай бұрын
I love these reactions, and I'm fairly certain that this song is about Tyler's religious trauma - "Pain will range from up down and sideways" are the motions made when you touch your head, chest, then shoulders to form a cross in church "Sundays are my suicide days" also church reference "It's me defending in suspense, it's me suspended in a defenseless test being tested by a ruthless examinant" I think this is a reference to the whole humans are sin and it's a 'defenseless test' because there never is a true right answer or way to be completely holy but are also suspended in the defense because you never know the results until you die and meet God for your judgement, so your whole life is the waiting period and one giant test - idk if he means god is the ruthless examiner or maybe his priest/congregation but he clearly had people judge a lot in terms of how he lives his life in accordance with the church "That's represented best by my depressing thoughts" this might be a stretch but I think the "sssss" is a reference to the snake in the Garden of Eden and also a play on how there tends to be a correlation between intellect and depression, as in the more knowledge gained and the more someone knows the more depressed they seem to get, the snake representing knowledge and his depressing thoughts "Full of tidal waves, suicidal crazed lions They're trying to eat me, blood running down their chin And I know that I can fight or I can let the lion win" in Christianity, particularly Genesis 49, lions are a symbol of kingship and taking possession of other kingdoms/land by force - absolute authority - as Christianity has done in the past e.g. crusades; I think he's talking about struggling between what he knows and whether or not he should allow the 'lion'/god/faith win and become an unquestionable absolute as some others have done, or if he should fight against it I think he says "sometimes death seems better than the migraine in my head" because the energy it takes to sort through and do this battle can be so taxing that sometimes the idea of not doing it anymore is appealing, but he follows it up with "but we've made it this far, kid" "The game is not played alone... And know that life has a hopeful undertone" I think as a way to say there's still hope, and it doesn't have to be this bad/there's happiness and a brighter future ahead. I also think he repeats it at the end of the song as a way to show that it's okay to have those bad feelings and it's okay to talk about them, but it's important to also do it with the idea that your life IS worth fighting for and it'll be okay Lastly, I think the amount of symbolism and metaphors used is also a vague reference to how much the Bible uses those things, and you can get entirely different meanings and interpretations depending on who you're talking to/which congregation you go to - it reminds me of when in Criminal Minds when Gideon says to a girl who asked him if he thinks God is vengeful says: "After Hurricane Katrina, I read some essays by religious scholars. One writer said God was punishing America for its immorality; New Orleans was a wicked city, like Sodom and Gomorrah. Another one, a priest from New Orleans, he thought the hurricane was proof of God's love, 'cause the levees didn't break until after the storm was over. If they'd broken sooner, thousands would've died. So... I guess the answer to your question depends on whether or not you think you have something to be punished for." Thanks for coming to my TED Talk lmao❣️

You are very entertaining to watch, as someone already stated you can analyse them as much as you want😂. Genius Tyler makes us make our own interpretation with every word. Appreciate you a lot.
