Some people here are conflating weight and stress. As I posted in other replies: By not allowing the motor to move around as much, it most definitely does reduces stress on the transom. The fact the weight of the engine onto the transom remains the same does not mean the product isn't useful. There's a reason Yamaha offers a nearly identical product as OEM equipment. *Stress and weight are two different things* . By securing the motor with the wedge and eliminating slop, it greatly mitigates the effect of impulse which is essentially what we define as stress in this context. Imagine doing Baja 500 with small boulders in the bed of the truck unsecured. They're going to put more stress on the bed than if they were secured and not able to move. Also, the weakest part of the transom is the highest part, and the strongest is the bottom. These wedges move some of the weight down the transom where it is stronger. It also takes a load off the trim rams. The wedge itself also has some play in it (but not much), which acts as suspension when hitting potholes and doesn't jar the transom as badly.

Hi Mac, Thanks for the question. We would recommend using 2 of the 3-ram supports if transporting any of the Yamaha V8 outboards. Otherwise, one M-Y Wedge 3 ram will offer sufficient support for up and down motion. To decrease any left to right or side to side motion, we would recommend using the M-Y Wedge in conjunction with a pair of steering stabilizer clips. These clips slide right over most hydraulic steering systems and will aid in further protection of integral components while trailering. If you really want to save the transom and the piston , use this wedge with the transom saver too , your boat and your piston will be really happy.

I don’t get, my Yamaha 2001 2 stroke has these metal brackets that fold down? Doesn’t that do the same thing?

Not sure the reasoning but read your motor manual. My 2013 yamaha F150 clearly states that is not for trailering. Thats to support the motor while working on it. I read the reasoning on another forum but forget now but its really bad to trailer like that.

Yes. If you have a 3 ram tilt/trim, just slide it over one of the 2 trim rams.

Thanks for watching! Typically, one MY-WEDGE transom saver is designed to provide adequate support for the outboard motor during transportation. It helps to stabilize the motor and reduce stress on the transom. If you have a particularly large or heavy outboard motor, using two transom savers might provide additional stability and support. However, this is not commonly needed.

WHY WOULDNT YOU USE THE LEVERS THAT FLIP DOWN FROM THE MOTOR TO STOP MOVEMENT

Thanks for your question. Using the built-in levers (often called "tilt locks" or "tilt stops") on an outboard motor to stop movement is generally intended for short-term situations, such as when the boat is out of the water for maintenance or when the motor is being transported over a short distance. MY-WEDGE might be preferred over these built-in levers for longer-term use or during transportation to avoid strain. The MY-WEDGE transom saver helps distribute the weight of the motor and reduce the stress on the transom, especially when the boat is being trailered over long distances. This can prevent damage to both the transom and the motor's mounting bracket. The built-in levers may not provide enough stabilization to prevent the motor from bouncing or shifting during transportation. The MY-WEDGE transom saver offers a more secure way to keep the motor in place, reducing the risk of damage. This does nothing to save the transom. Does nothing to reduce the motors weight on the transom and its flexing the transom when towed.

But better than transom saver. Exact same principle but easier to use. They are just supports to hold motor in tilt position. Motor is still hanging on the transom. On weight is distributed to trailer with transom saver brackets. That's all a joke

I think you're alluding to the fact the weight of the engine onto the transom remains the same. This is the case. BUT, stress and weight are two different things . By securing the motor with the wedge and eliminating slop, it greatly mitigates the effect of impulse which is essentially what we define as stress in this context. Imagine doing Baja 500 with small boulders in the bed of the truck unsecured. They're going to put more stress on the bed than if they were secured and not able to move. Also, the weakest part of the transom is the highest part, and the strongest is the bottom. These wedges move some of the weight down the transom where it is stronger. It also takes a load off the trim rams. The wedge itself also has some play in it (but not much), which acts as suspension when hitting potholes and doesn't jar the transom as badly.

I bought this to fit my 2021 suzuki df200. It doesn't fit, I was told to cut it down to fit. I ordered the one specific to Suzuki assuming it would fit like advertised and it doesn't. Not impressed

This does nothing to reduce the stress on the transom. All it does is keep the motor from bouncing too much. All of the weight of the motor & brackets are still producing stress on the transom.

Allowing the trailer to add even more stress to the transom via a "transom saver" is even worse. Running big waves puts more stress on the transom than trailering. These wedge style support brackets are the best design on the market. The transom is the strongest part of the boat.

@@NytronX I don't think anyone here is saying to use the other style trailer to motor transom saver, as I agree I think they create a worse problem by transmitting road vibrations directly to the lower unit. However we are simply correcting the fact that they keep stating these devices reduce stress on the transom, they do not. In my opinion these devices are just a way to transport the motor with it tilted as many trailer setups like mine will not allow you to have the motor all the way down or it can contact the ground. Yamaha says not to transport with the tilt lock lever engaged so these devices are the only other option without completely relying on your tilt ram to hold the weight of your motor as you bounce down the road which is definitely not a good thing

Marine engineer here, don't be fooled this product does little to prevent transom damage. false advertising. It can decrease shocks to the hydraulic trim system but thats it.

I would be ashamed if my boss would put me to present this product! Even a kid without any notions of physics may understand that adding a piece of rubber will not stop the transom to twist if you catch a huge bump on the road! The vibration has to go into the trailer's frame, not back into the transom!! You may even create harmonics because of the elastic element you add in the system!... But you never heard about... (However, today you may google it, if you missed this class...). Have you heard about liability for the products you sell?

From what I can see...this product doesn't do a damn thing. If anything, there was more movement in the motor with the device installed than without. Hahahahahaha! FAIL!!!! You couldn't pay me to put that on my motor.
